Samsung offers a mobile enterprise portfolio

KOREAN ELECTRONICS GIANT Samsung announced a raft of enterprise mobility partnerships at Mobile World Congress today.

It unveiled a plethora of collaborative mobile enterprise services offerings, encompassing enterprise email, instant messaging, security, mobile device management (MDM), unified communications (UC), customer relationship management (CRM), sales force automation (SFA), business intelligence (BI) and vertical applications. The partnerships include other big players such as Cisco, Formotus, Microsoft, Spring Wireless, Sybase, and Wipro,

According to Samsung, its enterprise mobility offerings will be available by the end of 2010 and will include a suite of devices for enterprise customers. Its own smartphones will support Microsoft Windows Mobile and there's also a nod to an upcoming Android platform. Samsung is also expanding the enterprise functionally on its own Bada mobile operating system.

The multiple partnership deals were announced by WP Hong, executive vice president of the mobile communications business at Samsung, who said, "The Enterprise Mobility Solutions we've presented today at Mobile World Congress really cement Samsung's place as a major player in the enterprise mobility market. Support from leading enterprise partners and major operators, has proven Samsung's commitment to deliver the comforts of the office computing environment to the smartphone - true mobility without compromise."

Samsung has been making a mobile enterprise play by buttering up channel partners in the hopes of brokering deals with major carriers. In addition to these announcements today, Samsung will also be partnering with Oracle, SAP and IBM in coming months. µ
