Nuance handwriting recognition on Android video

MWC 2010 T9 Write mixes the old with the new

NUANCE IS AT Mobile World Congress showing off T9 Write, which adds handwriting recognition to Android devices.

Anyone who has ever used a Palm PDA or similar device will be instantly familiar with the graffiti type interface that lets you write one character over the other to input text.

Nuance is enhancing this idea by blending the handwriting input with its XT9 predictive text technology to help speed up input by offering word completion and correction and introducing support for multi-touch.

The company is in talks with various OEMs to bring T9 Write to mobile devices in the near future, but, although the company doesn't rule out the possibility entirely, at the moment there are no plans to release it through the Android Market. µ
