DISPLAY MANUFACTURER Viewsonic has launched a like it or your money back program in the UK.
The firm said that anyone who bought one of its units from a selection of six retailers could try it out for thirty days. It added that if they were not satisfied at the end of this period they could send it back and claim a refund.
Any businesses looking to try this out across their entire workforce however, will be disappointed to learn that when we called Viewsonic to ask whether the same rules would apply, we were reminded that the offer is limited to one unit per address. So unless you have a lot of silo offices you are going to be disappointed.
"Contrary to what some other manufacturers will promote, we believe choosing IT needs to be a highly personal experience and not a commodity purchase. We want to give our customers the opportunity to see how our products fit into their lifestyle, rather than ask them to gamble on making a decision based on whatever information is thrown at them at that time," said James Coulson, european marketing manager at Viewsonic .
"We don't want our customers to feel there is pressure to make our products fit, find they do not and think badly of ViewSonic when making a future purchase. We would rather that they have a positive experience of ViewSonic as a whole."
Retailers participating in the program include Ebuyer, Novatech and Scan. µ
I agree.
Viewsonic use to be good years ago. I had a 17" CRT that lasted for years with no issues. Bought a couple (myself and relatives) LCD TV/Monitors several years ago, both died after a couple years. Bought a small bedroom TV/Monitor several months ago, it died after one week. No more Viewsonic for me.
Quite a few years back I bought a viewsonic vp231wb which was quite expensive. Shortly after the warranty was up (isn't it allways the same) I had discolouration in the right hand side last 5th of the screen. Not a show stopper but you do not expect it in a bit of kit that cost that much. When it dies I will be buying somewhere else for that sort of money the company only gets one chance.
