Samsung and LG get social

New mobiles previewed before MWC

MOBILE PHONE MAKERS LG and Samsung have previewed two new models geared for social networking just a a week ahead of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, according to Engadget here and here.

LG is launching the GD880 Mini, which it bills as yet another world's smallest and slimmest phone. The GD880 Mini connects to social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter using its "Social Network Connect" functionality. It will be compact and trendy and will offer HSDPA connectivity at 7.2Mbps, WiFi, A-GPS, a 5MP camera, FM radio and media player.

The full screen touch panel Samsung Monte is an update of its S-series and will have built-in Facebook and Myspace apps with widgets to access Twitter and Bebo. It also has a GPS receiver so coordinates on Google Latitude can be shared, plus a 3.2MP camera

While LG said it'll launch the GD880 Mini in Europe first in March, it didn't offer any word on pricing. Samsung kept its cards even closer to its chest and said now't about Monte pricing or launch details. µ
