THE GLORIOUS PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC of China has shut down what is believed to be the biggest training site for hackers in Central China and arrested three people, according to China Daily.
Up to 50 Chinese police were investigating the Black Hawk Safety Net training site, which openly recruited potential hackers online. For a small fee, hackers were given lessons in cyberwarfare including honing their skills on Trojan attacks.
Black Hawk Safety Net opened shop in 2005, accumulated over 12,000 VIP members and collected more than seven million yuan in membership fees, which translates to nearly £5 million.
The big question is whether the school or its members were involved in the famed Google attacks a few weeks ago that have added a level of frost to world diplomacy. The answer is, it matters not.
If it was or they were, great. But it's much more important right now that China be seen taking a proactive stance on cybercrime rather than just paying lip service, which might be the reason for the timing of the crackdown. µ

I would call China shutting down this high-profile hackergarten after 5 years more of a REACTIVE than proactive stance.
Particularly since this seems to have been a REACTION to Google's (got-more-balls-than-the-US-gov't) stance on not tolerating Chinese cyberattacks.
Google couldn't get better PR than this if it fell down on them from heaven.
Of course, Microsoft and its spokesmodel Bill Gates do not look nearly as good now with their coy "I just don't see why some people are having problems doing business with China", take it up the ying-yang PR drivel.
How many of these convicted hackers will end up being forced to work for the Chinese military Crack/hack group?
Stormy, are you chinese ?! Just a hint: nowadays it doesn't matter how has more nukes just because every part has enough to wipe out not only one country, but the whole Earth, a few hundred times.... The day one stupid launches a single rocket, that'll be the last day for all of us... So get relaxed and enjoy the stalemate ;) and get back to soft(ware) :D

Clearly USA has the advantage here.
Thomas, you should've read more about Chinese military and the fact that they probably have n times more nukes than USA. Sorry, but this time Obama will have to smile and play nice, no matter how itchy his military advisors are...
