A MAN'S LIFE has been saved because someone happened to spot him drowing on a webcam. Hollywood, are you listening?
The woman, from the south of Germany, was watching a sunset on a webcam - don't they have windows over there? - when she spotted a light flashing in the sea.
Having presumably dismissed the idea that dolphins, known for their intelligence, had mastered both the torch and morse code, she had a closer look and realised that it was a man drowning.
The man, from Northern Germany, had been walking on ice when he became disorientated. We could debate the use of 'became', since walking on ice is rarely a good idea, but whatever the circumstances he found himself in the North Sea with nothing but his camera to save him.
Cleverly, rather than microblog his own death, the man flashed his camera, which was seen by the woman, who told the relevant authorities.
We found this on the Belfast Telegraph. Suggesting that it was a slow news day in Belfast, but all the same we're glad he was saved. µ
Take that! You complainers of big brother while dipping your own hypocrite eyes in voyeurism.
Way to go and good news for a change!

Hey!
Don't be so upset, PZ Myers is in Belfast at Friday giving speech and what not http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/2010/02/more_details_on_belfast.php
Nothing much happens here... its a sh!thole. Most of the papers are filled with politicans talking the same old sh!te year in year out.

On a more related note, I remember reading a few weeks back about some guys driving a car down a frozen canal in Scotland... imagine their surprise when the ice (inevitably) broke. A right pair of idiots!!
:-D
Disorientated is not a word. The word you are looking for is "disoriented".
