Oracle is hiring at Sun

Even handed out badges to prove it

ORACLE HAS SURPRISED analysts by not announcing massive job cuts at Sun.

While many thought that Oracle CEO Larry Ellison would go through the hardware maker with his finest axemen, it appears he wants to hire 2,000 sales and engineering employees.

It does not mean that some people will not be collecting their P45s and pink slips but it seems that these will be less than the 2,000 that Ellison said he would be hiring.

Oracle handed out buttons at a company event that said, "We're hiring."

Ellison said that he wanted to turn his outfit into a 21st century version of IBM in the 1960s. In the coming months, Oracle will roll out products that make its technology work seamlessly with Sun, he promised.

Oracle wants to make a $1.5 billion profit from Sun over the next year. µ

I hope that Oracle will use Intel chip and discontinued SPARC based processors.

I believe ORACLE business will be more profitable if ORACLE uses Intel based server. Intel as the leader in Semiconductor business could not be challenged by any party.
