UK MUSIC LOVERS who own an Android based smartphone are getting another online music service, this time from Amazon.

Amazon MP3 has been available on Android to those in the US for some time now, but the online retailer is now expanding the service to other parts of the world. Until now, the only complete online music download service available to Android users here has been Mewbox.

Like Mewbox, Amazon offers music from all four major music labels as well as a plethora of independent labels, all in a DRM free MP3 format, allowing songs to be easily transferred to other devices.

"At Amazon we want customers to be able to discover, buy and play their music at their convenience, from the widest range of music genres possible," said Raquel Gonzalez-Dalmau, senior manager for Amazon EU MP3.

Gonzalez-Dalmau reckons that there are over 10 million songs available on the store, with albums starting at £3 and individual tracks starting at 29p.

The new Amazon MP3 app is available as a free download from the Android Market and works over WiFi and 3G. µ

Is it only for Android devices?

Can I use this service from a deskside PC? If not, why not?
