SEARCH COLOSSUS Google has started flogging its Nexus smartphone that is based on its Android operating system from its own website.
The Google hosted web store will sell the Nexus and other Android related gear.
Manufactured by HTC, the Nexus One features dynamic noise suppression, a 3.7-inch OLED display and a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It all runs on Android 2.1 and has a voice-enabled keyboard so you can speak into any text field, Live Wallpapers, a 3D photo gallery and more.
Not surprisingly it comes with a raft of Google applications, including Gmail, Google Voice and Google Maps Navigation.
You can buy the smartphone unlocked without operator service or with service from T-Mobile USA. At the moment it is not clear when Google will start selling its smartphone along with deals from UK operators. However if you want to buy one you can have the gadget shipped over from the colonies and get a Blighty SIM chip stuck in it. µ
Sorry, the Nexus One phone is not available in your country.
(We beg to differ - had no problems ordering one SIM free from www.google.com/phone, to be delivered to the UK - ed)
Like the above commenter, I also get "Sorry, the Nexus One phone is not available in your country."
Would be nice to see where it is available and for what price?
I beg to differ with ed. Probably available in UK, but not in Finland.
I think the clue is in "you can have the gadget shipped over from the colonies and get a Blighty SIM chip stuck in it" - no mention of Suomi ;)
I had my colleague in US ordered one two days ago, 529 without tax, free FedEx next day shipping, and I will be in US next week for a meeting, will pick it up when I arrive.
The website sucks balls. Where is the info on the phone?
A handsizer so I can see how the phone fits in my hand, I'd rather know more info.
