It's not a V bottom, it's not a U bottom, it's a Nike swoosh recovery - Greg McLenon, Hotovec Pomeranz
SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT FIRM Mobiforms is hoping to capitalise on all the hype surrounding Google's Android mobile operating system with the launch of a rapid application development tool.
According to the company, this is the world's first such tool specifically designed for Android, and it removes the need for all that messy and complicated understanding of Java, XML, the Eclipse IDE and even the Android SDK.
Instead any novice quickly whip up an app using the drag and drop interface, with support for JDBC connections to Oracle, SQL Server and other common databases.
Mobiforms apps can also be compiled to run on Tablet PC, Pocket PC, Windows CE, Windows Mobile and Symbian devices.
Not to suggest that professional programmers are incapable or creating pointless or shoddy applications, or alternatively that a non-programmer can't have a great idea for a simple but highly effective app, but we have to confess a certain amount of trepidation about this.
Some have lauded Apple for the plethora of applications available for the Iphone, but trying to sort through the thousands of fart apps and other dross to find the handful that best suit your needs is a tiresome task and the thought of the Android Marketplace suffering the same deluge is somewhat off-putting.
Of course, as the number of Android devices continues to grow this is bound to happen anyway, so if you have an idea for the perfect app and you don't want to bother with all that tedious coding, then Mobiforms 5.0 can be downloaded here. µ
