Dating site kicks off fatties
ONLINE DATING WEBSITE Beautifulpeople.com has kicked "5,000 festive fatties" off its service.
The singles' site, which presumably is aiming to develop some sort of master race, decided to kick weight gainers off its pages after after Christmas. It already enforces a no ugly people policy and forces prospective members to undergo peer scrutiny to join. Now it has trimmed its less trim members.
Experts reckon that we eat as much as four times as usual during the holiday season, which goes some way to explain the boom in gym memberships and self-loathing during the month of January. Rather than wait for its members to hit the treadmill, however, Beautifulpeople.com chose to kick them out straightaway. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given their taste for all things bacon, the US, UK and Canada seem to have had the most weight-gaining losers.
Greg Hodge, managing director of Beautifulpeople.com, said, "We responded to complaints by moving the newly chubby members back to the rating stage. This is the same as having them re-apply. Their re-applications were reviewed by existing members and only a few hundred were voted back in. Over 5,000 were rejected."
Robert Hintze, founder of the feel-superior site, added, "Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model and the very concept for which BeautifulPeople.com was founded."
Breaking the news gently to rejected members, the firm has recommended a number of institutions designed to help them get back in their spandex. These include Warrior Fitness in New York, Camp Technique in Los Angeles, NuBeginnings in the UK and Mystic Adventures which operates throughout Europe. They sound like training camps to us.

WOW, this is amazing. I cannot believe how superficial our society has become. Who says beauty has to be based on what the scale says? I know plenty of beautiful overweight people. I, myself, would like to see what the owners of this site look like. Funny how you can't find a picture of Robert Hintze anywhere. And who is to say who is and who is not beautiful? I may think someone is beautiful and you may not think so. Good publicity stunt, look at all the attention the site is getting. I never even heard of it before now.
Who cares? People do this every single day. If you're ugly or fat, no one, YES NO ONE, is looking at you as a potential mate. So go look for this 'no one' and get over your over-sensitivity of being discluded from some BS grouping.

We all pay for fatties with our premiums since we all subsidize ALL medical procedures by default. Also, you should probably learn about Medicaid and Medicare and who pays for people without insurance who end up in emergency rooms. Not to me mean, but you need get a clue. Since money doesn't grow on trees (yet) who do you think pays for these things? When you buy car insurance, don't you understand that your premium rates factor in bad drivers as well? Anytime you have a shared pot, some take more than others. I see now that you used my comment to complain about the upcoming health care "reform," but sadly you don't seem to understand that either. Also, please learn grammar and use spell check, you are embarrassing yourself.
hey jeff how do you pay for fat people? we dont yet have compulsory government run crapy healthcare in the USA. so for now the govement does not own your body. you are still free to live and eat as you wish, untill they break it and take it over then comes the nanny state and neighbors calling tollfree goverment hot lines, because they saw there neighbor deep frying a turkey in lard, and they dont want anyone getting unhealthy on there dime. oh the tattling and contemp we tax payers with have for each other
Fat people suck. When I see a fat person buying soda in the grocery store or a fatty at the local burger joint I want to puke. i wuz wundering who those emails were coming from. they been begging me to join der site for a few yeers now but I wuz under de impression it wuz just junk mail trolling fur credit card numbers. still nut interested, da misses wuld killme.
Actually, this site serves a highly useful purpose for those of us who offer more than just a questionably visually appealing facade.
We can check up to see who the incredibly shallow, self-centered arseholes are so when we see them trolling in the local bar (or pub), we can ignore them and not waste our time with someone guaranteed to be unable to enjoy a normal relationship with someone other than themselves.
I see the reason and understand the business model for that site. Dropping so many members is a nice publicity stunt. I guess those douchebag guys could walk-up to a chick and say they are a member of beautifulpeople.com and maybe longdicks.com even. Who cares.
The site itself doesn't work on IE6 (UI doesn't show) and FF 3.5.3 (unable to see anyone in BROWSE).
I guess fatty people who cannot push themselves need a (albeit shallow) reason to loose weight. If wanting to be on some site for uber-people is what they need to heal their bodies, It's ok with me. As long as it's not an eugenics cult.
People who 'think' they are beautiful and the other knobs who agree with them, totally deserve each other. Good riddance.

Try that site out and see how slow it is. And hardly anyone on it, and they are not that beautiful either.
Dissappointment in many ways.
Profiles are speedy to search but each profile loads in the same window so you can only view 1 at a time. And they take at least 5 seconds to load each page "Info, Photos, etc". It should all load on a single page and each profile should be tab-able or open-in-new-window-able.
Slow and awkward, would be annoyingly slow to use regularly.
...there's plenty more sites out there, maybe this site will just die a horrible death.
I found when I tried on line dating that the majority of people on there weren't actually looking for anyone anyway, in fact I was close to giving up until I met my now wife (we've been together 5 years in May and married 2 years in September). That was with Yahoo dating.
Maybe someone will come up with a site for those of a larger size, maybe they could call it Chubby-Lovers.com, oh hang on, according to Google, it's already been done, in fact it says "ChubbyLovers.com is a kickass handpicked collection of top notch plumper DVD movies and hi-res photos. Get in for hours of big, fleshy fun!".
