CHANGES IN CHIP DESIGN will eventually benefit consumers greatly, according to futurists at Intel.
Speaking to the Mercury News, Chipzilla's boffins claimed that the relationships people have with their computers and other devices will undergo a remarkable transformation.
Justin Rattner, Intel's chief technology officer, claimed that new chips will understand the world about as well as ordinary people. Given that ordinary people watch Big Brother and think that Fox News is reliable we are not sure if that is a good thing or not, however Rattner said that the new generation of computers will see and hear and they probably will speak and do a number of other things that resemble humans.
Intel claims that four-core processor technology was only the beginning as it believes there will be more cores coming.
Consumers will end up with things like virtual dressing rooms that will enable people to build a virtual model of their body, which then could try on clothes displayed on a store's website. Computerized models could be made of a person's ailment, such as a tumour and a multi-core chip could simulate the likely effects of treating it. Every home will be equipped with multi-core-powered computers connected to wireless cameras that monitor and offer advice to punters, according to Intel's dreamers of the future.
Intel is convinced that the future is multi-core and is developing more ways to stuff more cores on the chip. µ
Everyone will be happy with intel inside everything.
So the question of who is dumb or dumber between America and Europe. Who will burn brighter in their blaze of glory? In the end America will end up in a superior position because of one fact. Our enemies are separated from us by two oceans.
Same question for you: have you ever lived in Europe? If so have you ever lived in the U.S.? Over 40 million American citizens live in poverty and the level the government puts at poverty is very low. If they used a real low income level to define poverty there would officially be many moor poor in the States.
Soviet propaganda had nothing when compared with American propaganda.....the Yanks think they live in paradise compared to the rest of the world even though America is the only country they have seen with their proper eyes.........FOX is strong I'll give them that.
@st
So,You think America has a better socio-economic model, than this country,do you?
You have Capitalism & so do we, We don't have Socialism, neither do you.
You have an economic system that is Bankrupt(Capitalism)& is bankrolled, by the TAXPAYER, as we have.
America was once an open & relatively generous country,to it's 'friends',now you don't.
We have our NHS, Obama knows that intitution is crucial to any nation's health, unlike you neo-cons, who would deprive anyone poorer than yourselves that which is necessary for life with relatively good health.
I have used the NHS since it's inception
,it's where anyone can obtain treatment for 'free',simply by paying their taxes.
That is socially, an equitable system, unlike the USA & it's one that will outlive any 'private' system of health provision.
Unfortunately,we have millions of legal & illegal immigrants, that exploit our social benefit system, that is down to the Blair,Brown government, who are about to be ejected.
So,I think you are the DUMBASS,ALONG WITH ALL NEO-CONS.
"Every home will be equipped with multi-core-powered computers connected to wireless cameras that monitor and offer advice"
Wireless cameras that anybody can hack into, yeah sure. Cameras in my house that monitor me and give "advice", oh but of course.
And none of that is going to go wrong. There will be absolutely no cases of stalking, state-run privacy invasion, major cock-ups from commercial monopolies, or any other issue.
And tomorrow we'll have squadrons of flying pigs.
...as long as your willing to pay out the ass for everything...and then pay all you have left in taxes. Then and only then is that Utopian Europe your spouting off about possible...we have a word for that over here in the States...Socialism. And it's not a good word either you dumb ass, so bugger off.
Intel was always building bigger power hungry processors.
Now it's being beaten by the little ARM processor. Low power consumption is the key. ARMs are now outselling x86 processors.
Watch the army of Android smartphones coming, all running ARM. This will be followed by Apple's tablet running on an ARM, and then a whole lot of Android tablets running ARM.
Intel can only sit back with its old pal Microsoft and watch the parade go by.
Me, have you ever lived in Europe? Or Asia?
I've lived in bot as well as the U.S.
In Europe it's nice to know that no matter how often or how expensive a medical treatment is I and my family will have it with no questions asked. It's nice to know that if I have an accident my family will not suffer because I can't work. It's nice to know my children can go to school, finish University and become medical doctors and it wont cost me or them anything. It's also nice to know that EVERYONE else is OK too even if they don't have my financial status.
America has gone down the drain and it didn't do it under Obama's watch but by doing as it always has.
"Chipzilla's boffins claimed that the relationships people have with their computers..."
I just couldn't resist..."you're not supposed to stick that in there!" ;)
"I wonder where intel got the Idea of making multi-core cpu's with hyper-threading from....hmmmmmmm."
Doesn't have anything to do with AMD.
Both AMD and Intel have known full well since the early 80's that multi-cores are more power-efficient and more transistor efficient. Nobody wanted to write code for the damn things when power efficiency is not a concern and the speed up over single-core is not worth the effort. The decision was forced on them when they ran into a thermal wall with the k7 and pentium 4.
AMD chips do not now and have never had hyperthreading.
I wonder where intel got the Idea of making multi-core cpu's with hyper-threading from....hmmmmmmm.
"Intel is convinced that the future is multi-core and is developing more ways to stuff more cores on the chip. µ"
Gosh, I had no idea.
And as usual the Amdroids comes out in droves to prove the point that only idiots buy AMD. Whats the point? We knew that already.
I think what AMD really want's is a new clientele to buy their CPU's. Otherwise they will forever be linked to paranoid guys with tin foil hats.
AMD Pushing Envelope to Finish Out 2009 Above $10 Per Share. Now thats Significant. Just In Midist of Econoic vrisis This Year AMD/Ati Fell to measly $1.51 Sh. You Place Your Bets & Takes Your Chances. By Time Full year Is Up ,Cycle will Have Pulled in 8X Profit, E Gads.
In HARD times Fraud Just Don't Cut It. Intel Take Peek At Future. GRAPHICS Engines. RJR might Be touch Strong on Dino thang, yet With ALL Engineering, FABS have to Keep Up. Its MAD, Its' AMD.

The key to attaining a glorious future is allowing dinosaurs like Intel to pass on.
Intel and a number of other prominent but aging tech companies are all suffering to varying degrees from the same ailment which did in the auto companies. Namely, arrogance coupled with an inability to produce significant inventions. That is why all the creativity they can muster goes towards lobbying to turn America's patent system in a sport of kings in collusion with like minded companies calling themselves the Coalition for Patent Fairness.
This coalition is made up of serial infringers who are usually a bit late when it comes to producing the inventions they need to compete in their markets. They steal on a grand scale and ship the economic benefits of the inventions to low wage countries leaving American inventors and their communities in the lurch.
I have little doubt that Intel's vision for consumers is having a ball with Intel's logo chained to the consumer.

Actually, Fox News holds the same views as the majority of Americans, and it's the only one not at Obama's beck & call. If you find that scary, please do us both a favor and move to Europe, where you can enjoy being taxed to death without ruining this country.
Good lord, i hope they don't deploy that awesome technology in the toilets!
Right now only the mad Japanese lot have done something like that, but then, the first Japanese guy got married to some anime girl of some dating game on the DS!
They're on some next sh*t....
All that stuff can be and is done with GPGPU. Intel; you're lagging, but I expect nothing less.
Moar cache, Intel, moar cache...
Well that's easy, intel, just copy AMD like you've done over the last decade, and you'll learn the right way to add more cores. of course, you'll have to take all the credit for it as usual also. and don't forget to brag about your hyperthreading in the meantime!
"Given that ordinary people watch Big Brother and think that Fox News is reliable we are not sure if that is a good thing or not,...."
Lucky for us, we have CNN, NBC, ABC, and CBS to tell us the truth, and to tell us how to think. Obama will take care of us, thankfully.
So just wondering what News Agency the author thought was reliable? When compared to blank, Fox News is not reliable?
"Given that ordinary people watch Big Brother and think that Fox News is reliable we are not sure if that is a good thing or not,...."
Amen!
