What's on your Christmas wish list?

A cool gadget or something else?
Thu Dec 17 2009, 15:49

SINCE CHRISTMAS is just over a week away now, we're wondering what all of you, our technologically discerning Inquirer readers, want the most to receive as gifts this holiday season.

Has Time magazine's "Gadget of the Year" Android OS powered Droid (or Milestone in the UK) smartphone caught your fancy? Or are you lusting after a sleek ultra-thin notebook, or thinking that a compact netbook might be just the thing? Maybe you still really want an Iphone, or an Ipod Touch?

Or, perhaps you don't really want a gadget this year, but could use a PC component upgrade or two? On the other hand, maybe you don't want any more gadgets but just want to stay comfortably numb to get through the holidays?

Whatever is on your Christmas list, you can let us know by taking our poll down on the right side the page. Or, if what you want isn't listed there, feel free to let us know in the comments below. In any case, we here at The Inquirer hope your holiday shopping isn't too stressful. µ

2. A 20 Gallon Dewar Flask.
3. 20 Gallons of LiN2 (Liquid Nitrogen), maybe helium if baby's got bucks...
4. Case ? We don't need no stinkin' cases.

Being stuck on a contract...

... I'm not asking for a phone this year, maybe when my contract is up for renewal in about 12 months time maybe.

Nope, this Christmas I'm after a PS3 80GB (I would have got a Slim if it wasn't for the fact they removed the option to run Linux). In fact I'm sitting impatiently waiting for it to arrive from an eBay seller. I've got everything crossed hoping that it arrives in one piece and before Christmas!

With any luck on Christmas day I'll be playing around with something small and hairy... no not that, an Eye Pet!

Got My Doroid Already

So I think I'll have Ol' St. Nick bring me a pair of Sapphire Vapor-X 5770s for Christmas to replace my aging 4870s ;-

Yep, gadgets

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. I want the Motorola DROID..... Hurry up and release the damn thing in Australia....

The features of the device are nice, but the angular design certainly has me sold. The iPhone while nice does look rather effeminate to me, it's a chicks phone.

The DROID? Thats a MANS phone, and no doubt about that.

At the moment the only Android phone available in Australia is the HTC Magic. Not especially Attractive.

My list that I prefer are:

1: The Motorola DROID
2: Sony Ericsson XPeria X10
3: Samsung I7500

Love -Hate gadgets

I would rather have an old steam train of an old steam engine, something will still work 10 years from now. I just bought a new laptop, what will it be worth in 5 years if it still works?

all i want for christmas

this year all i want for christmas is a samsung omnia i900. why? because i love reasonably priced yet powerful gagets and this smartphone has been on the market long enough to be picked up for about 250 quid. i can finally replace my aging p990 and do new smart stuff like use a playstation emulator on the go :D. last year i got an acer aspire one and i havent put it down since.

p.s.

INQ Poll

Authorities in several countries raided Megaupload recently, shut down all of its services, seized hundreds of servers and arrested several of its executives on criminal charges.

Do you think the move was justified?
