THE CHINESE WEBSITE PCOnline has posted a leaked Intel slide that shows details of the Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition processor.

If the slide is real, it shows that the 32nm LGA 1366 processor will have a 3.33GHz clock speed, 12MB of cache, Hyper-Threading, Turbo Boost, and an integrated memory controller. In other words, about what we would expect, then.

Here is the slide and if you can read Chinese here is the link

So I guess they're not going with the i9 name then.

Guys,
Read the chart... 6 CORES.

Take you i5's and go away.

3.7 on liquid 920 is fail. Must not be D0 stepping

New CoreI5 series surprise.

I read inquirer and all tech web sites like a religion, but missed the introduction of new series of Core I5 and Core I3 series processors today.

hyperthreading...

Hyperthreading only helps if the application you are using supports multi-threading. Im not saying an i7 980x is a slouch compared to an i5 but in my opinion I think I got a better deal :)

"Wow! That's only about 10% less clock frequency than my watercooled i7 920 has!"

10% less clock... two more HT enabled cores... ummmm

and you with the i5... be quiet, adults are talking :)

Meh...

I get 4.2Ghz on my i5 with watercooling. I'm sure I could go higher. Also, the 980X is 5 times the cost as an i5. I rather save the money and put in 2 SSD drives in RAID 0.

Fail

LOL so true....

Since were throwing numbers around I get 3.6GHz out of my air cooled Q950

"Wow! That's only about 10% less clock frequency than my watercooled i7 920 has!"

This new shrink derivative means that you wont have to go to the extent, expense and
complication of water cooling a chip with just a 10% clock difference.

you will be able to overclock the i7 980x well past your current cpu frequency with just air cooling and it will give off less heat.

Now they just need to make a cpu that will unjam peoples feet from there mouths
