Kindle reader comes to the Iphone

Ebooks are the way forward, insists Amazon
Mon Dec 14 2009, 17:09

NOT SATISFIED with the uptake of its Kindle ebook reader, Amazon has launched a Kindle app for the Iphone.

Firm in the belief that ebooks are the future, Amazon went on to release a PC version and now an Iphone application. Of course one of the main reasons for using an ebook reader as opposed to anything else is that the e-ink screens closely resemble normal print and are a lot easier on the eyes when poring over text for long periods of time.

"The Kindle for Iphone App is the perfect companion for customers who own a Kindle or Kindle DX, and a great way for customers around the world to download and read books even if they don't yet have a Kindle," said Ian Freed, vice president of Amazon Kindle.

Probably the biggest advantage to the Kindle for Iphone app is that it uses Amazon's Whispersync so you can synchronise your content and bookmarks across different Kindle devices. As with the Kindle device itself, it also gives you direct access to the Amazon ebook library and you can freely preview the first chapters of books before you buy them.

The Kindle app is available free on the Iphone app store in over 60 countries and Apple users will be happy to know that a Mac version is on the way too. µ

@Jason Goatcher

They're not "computers" they're "Macs" and their users aren't real people.

It's made to be used on an Apple product

And yet Apple computers will be the last computers the app will be adapted for.

That is awesomely, epically ironic.

I'm amazed I'm the first to point this out.
