BEANCOUNTERS at DRAMexchange, who have been counting rams to help them sleep, say that contract prices for DRAM chips remained unchanged in the first half of December.
Other ram counters had been predicting a slight dip, but that is what happen to sheep after they are counted.
Average quotes for 2GB DDR2 and 2GB DDR3 stay flat at US$41 and US$39, respectively, for the first half of December, according to latest DRAMexchange data.
DRAMexchange last month estimated the prices for the entire December would fall by 5 to 10 per cent sequentially to reflect seasonal patterns, maybe they nodded off early.
In the spot market, prices for 1Gb DDR2 have recently rebounded to approach $2.50. Average prices for branded and effectively tested (eTT) 1Gb DDR2 chips rose 2.67 per cent and 2.81 per cent in one day to close at $2.46 and $2.34, respectively.
Contract prices for MLC NAND flash memory went down for the first half of December.
DRAMexchange data show quotes for 16Gb and 32Gb MLC chips have slid 5 to 10 per cent and 2 to 6 per cent to average $4.66 and $7.26, respectively, for the first half of this month. µ
