Dell releases cut price Vostro V13.

Small businesses are us

GREY TIN BOXMAKER Dell has decided it is a good idea to flog cut-price laptops to small busineses.

Small and medium size businesses have been the worst hit by the recession and have been refusing to buy anything from Dell lately.

The Vostro V13 starts at £359 and is supposed to be geared to the small business person who travels a lot.

Sam Burd, global vice president, Dell Small and Medium Business, said that not long ago, business travellers had to choose mobility and affordability at the expense of performance. That's no longer the case with the V13, he said. Although we doubt he is using one himself.

The Vostro V13 is 0.65 inch thick, weighs 1.59kg, has all the wireless connectivity you can use and holds up to 4GB of DDR3 SDRAM. It can also be set up with full data-encrypted hard drives.

Not much else leapt out of the specifications at us but it is cheap and very thin and might get the odd small business buying again. µ
