IT IS STARTING to look like the story about Microsoft paying huge amounts of cash to have Rupert Murdoch block Google from his online news websites does not have legs.
Last week, the Seattle PI online newspaper reported that the two companies were considering a deal that would give the Vole's Bling, er Bing, search engine exclusive search-indexing rights to News Corp content, such as from The Wall Street Journal and FOX News.
But now the AP, quoting sources at Microsoft, said today that shy and retiring Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is unlikely to fund such a boycott of Google.
It is true that the Vole is chatting with a wide range of media outlets, including The Associated Press, about ways that its search engine might be able to showcase stories, photos and videos.
It is also true that these could result in new revenue-sharing agreements or other payments. However they wouldn't necessarily require publishers to shun Google, the AP reported. µ
If they don't want their site indexing by the bots then all they have to do is add this to the .htaccess file on the server, not rocket science
Who really looks to Fox & Wall Street Journal anymore for news? They're probably the most biased news source you can get. Fair and balanced my arse. Murdoch has already admitted manipulating the news to shape it to his agenda.

Microsoft can take Murdoch. Nobody with half a brain will care.
Microsoft probably won't do it, but not because Stevieboy is afraid.
They won't do it because they won't know how to measure it.
And that's too bad, because it would be a GREAT idea for them

Once Murdoch got his grimy paws on The WSJ, it ceased to be.
The articles that delved deep into how processes were done or went wrong in finance have stopped.
It now resembles the NY Post/NY SUN.
Have been a WSJ subscriber since 1979, the death of the tome is saddening.
Comparing old journals to today's print: no comparison.
