KOREAN INDUSTRIAL GIANT Samsung has announced that its S9110 watchphone will go on sale in Ireland for £500.
Someone at Samsung must play a lot of squash, racketball or tennis because this watchphone, which was first shown off in August, looks rather cumbersome and may require strong wrists to carry. Oh, but given its small screen it will also need small fingertips to use. Bit of a mismatch there, possibly.
Anyway, not all of us have to worry about this leap in evolution as for some reason the firm will only sell the watchphone in Ireland, not in the UK.
Those who do buy the phone will get excruciatingly regular access to their Microsoft Outlook mailbox, while being required to stare so long at their wrist that passers-by will have assumed they are counting how long it takes them to die while holding their breath.
Bluetooth and voice recognition are also offered, the latter of which could save a lot of typing time on the 1.76-inch screen.
The Samsung watchphone goes on sale on 14th December, so if you know any James Bond types that want their stockings filled, head down to Carphone Warehouse, but only if you're in Ireland. µ
... Patrick Bond .. Jamie's Irish cousin...
I so want one of these ... imagine the pillavah on a night out chatting up a bird! .. "'scuse me love, Q is trying to reach me" while you press a few buttons on your watch and discuss the next terrorist attack on Somewhereistan... how cool is that?
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder - this sentence JUST made my day:
"counting how long it takes them to die while holding their breath"

BRAH, YOU ARE GETTING BLOWN FOR SURE...
a feckin stupid idea.
And, last I heard, a Euro is worth MORE than a dollar.
If they want to sell these things, they need to make them dirt cheap.
Launching in Ireland! Maybe 2 years ago when there wasmore money then sense but with the worst recession since the famine still gripping the country this wil fail.
