Carphone Warehouse snubs Sony Ericsson's top smart phone

It's a bit pants
Tuesday, 24 November 2009, 10:58

BLIGHTY'S Carphone Warehouse has snubbed Sony Ericsson by deciding not to sell its flagship smartphone.

Sony Ericsson had hoped that its recently launched Satio smartphone would result in a turnaround for its fortunes. The mobile gadget has more multimedia functions than you can shake a stick at and a 12.1 megapixel camera.

However Carphone Warehouse claims that the software that runs the phone is "buggy" and it is fed up with users complaining about it.

It has temporarily withdrawn the phone until Sony Ericsson gets its act together.

In a statement, Europe's largest mobile retailer said that sometimes it experiences problems with new handsets and their software, which may result in a customer experience that is below its usually high standards.

Sony Ericsson's UK sales and marketing unit insists that only a small number of consumers have experienced software issues with the Satio when using certain applications.

It is working toward solving the problems, the company said.

Carphone Warehouse said it is working with Sony Ericsson to restock the Satio as soon as possible. µ

Symbian

maybe if sony paid attention to symbian side of things.... smart phones are not designed for people who aren't willing to read up how to run there phones smoothly.... remember teaching people what a 'mouse' and 'pointer' is?, try teaching the average Joe what multitasking, updates, and memory management for a phone.

carphone should bring back the satio- its not like sony wont release any fixes, that the customer should already be fully aware they need to do themselves anyway. (take lead from n97)

I love mine, and its not given up on me yet.

From a Sony Ericsson fan

I bought three identical Sony Ericsson mid-range (K530i) phones a couple of years ago for me and the family. It was my first experience of Sony Ericsson. I've just replaced them with other models from other manufacturers just because of the deals available. However my experience with those SE phones was really positive. Above all I was impressed with how well thought out the software was compared to other phones I've had in the past. The accompanying PC suite software was of a similarly high standard. If SE have some teething problems with this model I'm sure they'll get them sorted out and then it will be a great phone. I'd be delighted to have another SE phone in the future, they won my loyalty with their quality.

Even if it's true....

I don't understand why any company ever claims the bug(s) they have only effect a small number of users. If it's a new product, they only have a small number of users.

In any event, no one ever believes that statement, even if it's true, because everyone claims it even when it's not true.

Why not just say we are working to fix the problem, and expect that to be completed by ...... It is at least a bit more believable.

Companies never admit to big numbers

"Sony Ericsson's UK sales and marketing unit insists that only a small number of consumers have experienced software issues with the Satio when using certain applications."

That's because only small number of punters bought it!
