Spotify adds a Symbian version

Now available for more riff-raff
Monday, 23 November 2009, 12:00

SPOTIFY has told us that it has released a version of its software that runs on the Symbian operating system.

Spotify is a proprietary peer-to-peer music streaming service that allows instant listening to specific tracks or albums. It currently has versions that work with the Iphone and Android mobile phones.

Since Symbian is the operating system used by a number of smartphones including Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Samsung, it is hoped that offering a Symbian version of Spotify will help the digital jukebox to grow in popularity.

Spotify said that the release means that Spotify Mobile is now available on millions more phones, such as the Nokia 6220 Classic, E71 and 5800 XpressMusic models.

The application will also run on some of the more popular Sony Ericsson and Samsung smartphones, such as the Samsung GT-I8910 Omnia HD and Sony Ericsson Satio. µ
