Intel discusses the future of Xeons

Can you ever have too many cores?
Thursday, 12 November 2009, 14:17

THE INQUIRER'S sister site V3 met with Intel's director of Xeon marketing, Shannon Poulin, this week to discuss how faster and more efficient chips can handle the increasing volumes of data we're all facing, and save users money to boot.

Poulin also shed some light on the future of Intel processor development, and how far the firm will go with multi-core chips.

If you want to hear the lowdown from Poulin, part one and part two of the video interview are available. µ

Nice summary

This article would have been a *lot* more useful if it had given a brief summary of the salient points, eg for those of us who cant watch the video at work.

Doesnt need to be anything fancy.

Lame

Is it just me, or has the Inq. just become a very lame front end to endless video snippets?

Agree with poster #1, if you can't be bothered to post some salient points, or anything beyond a sensational headline, why bother?

Lame 2

Agree with the Anonymous Coward and Mr. Me. A summary and an insightful remark or two is what I'm looking for here.

good grief

Good Grief - pointless interview. The Intel guy did a politician-style ramble. He managed to emphasize his complete lack of understanding.

Hint Intel - don't coach marketing people on tech - coach techs on how to give an interview.

ps the vnu site is still lame. sad bit of plugging for the parent company

The Inq newsdesk,

please can you tell us how spending money on a new computer can save us money?

I am guessing that there must be more to this than a new computer can use less energy than an older computer, so over many years you could save some money on electricity.

Is that it or is there some other new tech which actually saves me real money?
