Life may have no meaning. Or even worse, it may have a meaning of which I disapprove - Ashleigh Brilliant
SONY ERICSSON today released details of its X10 smartphone, which it is billing as the first in a family of phones "to deliver a consistent user experience where communication truly becomes entertainment."
We are not sure what this means but we guess it is claiming that it is the first phone to make talking fun, but we would have thought people have been talking on the phone for a fun for a while.
The phone is based on a new UX platform which is built on top of Google Android 1.6, aka Donut, and provides more entertainment features and shedloads of social notworking services.

Bert Nordberg, president of Sony Ericsson, said that the X10 will be in Japanese shops early next year and will be rolled out to other markets later on.
Rikko Sakaguchi, EVP and chief creation officer at Sony Ericsson, claimed that the X10 was a "fantastic example of our make.believe philosophy".
Apparently this means "pushing the boundaries of what is possible and demonstrating that anything consumers can imagine, we can make possible". This philosophy is obviously not Plato and sounds a lot more like marketing to us. µ
Sony Ericsson releases more of the same...
So, are sony getting their fruity phone clones's firmware right at last?
This seems to be the main problem for most smartphones these days - hangs, crashes, poor user interface design. Have sony debugged its firmware at last or have they just added a few fancy screen effects?
I wonder if it'll be sporting one of those nice snapdragon/omap 1GHz processors and a nice large screen aka 3.8"+
I also wonder why not Android 2.0 if it's going to be released next year... Not that it would be a problem to update

Resolution nearly 3x what the iphone sports, but having no keyboard is a gamebreaker for me
Ok so not sure how many of you know this but X10 was a really poor choice for a model designation on this phone. The reason for this is X10 is an industry standard term for a category home automation devices and given the look of this phone it's probably gonna confuse some people. That said otherwise looks good but I have a feeling it's gonna be beyond pricey given it's specs.
For those interested in a similar phone for less cash Motorola just released a couple based on ripped off HTC designs designe to directly compete with the iPhone, the Droid and the CLIQ. I say based on HTC designs cause it's pretty obvious they were looking at the touch pro models when they designed them. Anyway they have near identical specs to the iPhone except for higher quality cameras, better support for the various cellular standards and are proprietary BS free ie they use standard USB connectors and Android for an OS.
