PHONEMAKER NOKIA has released a new Nokia N97 mini and a software update 2.0 for the original.
With the update, N97-ers can now enjoy 'flip scrolling', which has been added throughout the user interface, new shortcuts for navigating around the phone, Ovi Maps 3.1 with 3-D maps, Ovi contacts and the Ovi store. Updaters also get Nokia e-mail and Nokia Messaging.
The Nokia N97 mini also makes its big debut in stores this week. It's designed for "style-conscious people who are active with social networks". The device features a tilting 3.2" touch display, QWERTY keyboard and fully customisable homescreen. It features some of the same software as the Nokia N97 and is estimated to set you back about £400 before taxes.
The standard version of the Nokia N97 software update 2.0 is available immediately through your PC on the Nokia software update website. This will be followed by a wide range of country and operator versions over the coming weeks, as well as the possibility to do the update over-the-air.
Nokia has also announced that the original N97 has sold 2 million units to date.

Not in the UK it isn't, and that's after all the fuss that has been made about even UK unbranded phones being months behind on firmware... Oh sorry, you didn't cover that story did you, that was the guardian - My new tech source.
The update to PR2.0 (V20) for the N97 was only available to some regions. At the moment its being pulled. The reason for it being pulled is not known but its suspected that a bug exists in the download causing a failure in app integration - some have found their apps to no longer exist.
As for the N97 mini - i thought that the original dae for release had been put back due to firmware issues?
Nokia have to get a grip of their soditware dept or they will end up like motorola!
ok.....you go ahead and mention that the price of the n97 mini will set u back 400 pounds or whatever, why the heck don't you even bother to mention the cost of the regular n97 so that we can compare? too lazy?
i just can't seem to understand why people write articles like this....give half the information that is pertinent and leave the rest up to us to figure out.
I'm just amazed they managed to provide one link to the currently unavailable update, half the time they can't be bothered to provide any links.
absolute rubbish article, can't believe i wasted my time reading it!
obviously the person who wrote this article couldn't be bothered with it.
