Nokia Booklet will come out at Windows 7 launch

To compete with the Iphone

NOKIA HAS SAID that it will begin selling its new netbook in the US on October 22nd when Windows 7 launches.

As expected the 10.1 inch Booklet 3G runs Windows 7, is two centimetres thick and weighs 1.25kg. Nokia claims the 16 cell battery will give 12 hours lifetime and the built-in SIM will allow internet access anywhere.

"Nokia understands mobility like no other company and recognizes that the most 'powerful' device is the one that doesn't have you running for the power plug or network point," said Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, president of Nokia.

"We believe we have a winning combination for U.S. consumers."

The device also has integrated GPS linked into Nokia's Ovi mapping function, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Nokia is selling the Booklet 3G for $299 from Best Buy stores if users also buy an AT&T data contract for $60 plus taxes per month. Booklet's without an AT&T contract will pay $599.

The announcement makes it exactly the same price as Apple's 32GB Iphone and the deal with AT &T will give it access to one of the biggest US 3G networks.

“The Nokia Booklet 3G is a really sharp, exciting device and we look forward to powering it with the nation's fastest 3G network," said Ralph de la Vega, president of AT&T Mobility and Consumer Markets.

"Consumers and small business customers can't get enough mobile broadband.” µ

Built-in SIM?

Built-in SIM?

How about blue-tooth to connect to my phone with my SIM? This would save battery power & I wouldn't have to have 2 phone/data accounts. No way I am going to pay for 2 unlimited data accounts unless 2nd one is free!

Good, another Intel powered machine

I believe there are more SKU's in upcoming months with Intel Atom. I believe in 2010, Nokia will exclusively ordering microprocessors from Intel only.

@Eina

How would a bluetooth internet connection via your mobile phone save any energy at all? It would drain your phones battery in no time. Where I live you can get multiple SIM cards for one contract.
