SAMSUNG HAS ALIGNED itself yet further with Google's Android operating system, with the launch of the Behold II handset.
"We are excited to announce Samsung's first Android-powered device with T-Mobile in the US," said Omar Khan, senior vice president of strategy and product management at Samsung Mobile.
"The Behold II follows the success of the Behold launched last year, taking the device and user experience to the next level with the Android platform."
The Behold II features a 3.2-inch screen, a 5-megapixel camera, WiFi and GPS, and up to 16GB of storage. As well as access to the usual Google Android features, it provides access to Microsoft Exchange.
The screen has the TouchWiz technology that was present on its predecessor, making it possible to interact with widgets using the fingers, while Samsung's 'Cube' system lets users customise as many as three different home screens and control apps such as YouTube using a spinning 3D box.
"T-Mobile continues to expand our line-up of Android-powered phones in time for the holiday season with the addition of the Samsung Behold II," said Travis Warren, director of product marketing at T-Mobile USA.
"The premium screen and quality camera, coupled with Samsung's innovative Cube menu, makes the Behold II a multimedia powerhouse that's made even stronger by T-Mobile's high-speed 3G network."
The Behold II is available through T-Mobile only in the US at this stage, but is expected to arrive in the UK soon. µ
I am really looking forward to getting my Samsung Behold II in February. I am waiting for current 2 year stint to end to get a cheaper price. So far, this looks amazing. I have seen reviews with stock Behold II and look forward to chance to update to Android 2.0 if needed at all. Since it is a new phone, I would expect some hiccups to show, so hopefully I get a batch that has been revised at least once when I get mine. Looking forward to the unlimited possibilities it seems. Been using flip phones since 2006, have been wanting to add functionality for a long time. Does POP exist on these phones when used with WiFi? Also, have seen that 3G can't be turned off, has anyone came with a way to fix this and make it more selective? For example, when at work, signal strengths aren't that great, would rather use WiFi capabilities for any browsing or web related activity. Currently get with the Beat about 2 to 0 bars inside work, when I move around I do get better strengths. Share your opinions with me at http://www.Behold-Android.com a place only for Behold II owners
