ADVANCE INVITES to trials of Google Wave are appearing on Ebay's web site
Google has released 100,000 invites to its Wave colloboration platform to users of some of its other apps. However, it seems that not all these users are deserving as many are trying to capitalise on their fortune by selling them on for a tidy profit.
Although some auctions have already been pulled - eBay apparently told sellers that they did not have the right to sell them - a search at the time of publication found 13 results. Most are current live auctions, but two are fixed with buy it now prices. Those prices are £35 and £55 pounds. Nice work if you can get it.
At the time of writing, the highest live auction has 17 hours left to run, six bidders, twelve bids and currently stands at around the £30 mark. We are advised that the proceeds from this will go to the Leukemia and Lymphona society.
Other sellers presumably just have more invites than friends and are hawking numerous opportunities in their auctions.
Although sellers offer to add winners to their own invite list as quickly as possible, no one can guarantee delivery of the actual experience. Screenshots of the invite show Google explaning that it will "have a lot of stamps to lick".
Buyer beware however. Some are marked 'Pick up only', which is possibly cause for concern. µ
