SONY'S PSP GO has launched in the UK with a firmware update that introduces some interesting technology that might also tip up elsewhere.
Armed with Firmware 6.10 the PSP Go will be able to connect to a mobile phone via Bluetooth in order to piggyback the phone's WiFi or 3G Internet connection.
The PSP Go will also have an XMB feature called Sensme that basically lets punters generate playlists from their music libraries based on different moods.
It is based on Sony's proprietary 12 Tone Analysis technology to evaluate music tracks that have been exported from its Mediago application on a PC to the PSP.
The application automatically categorises the tracks into 12 channels such as "Relax" or "Newly Added".
Writing in his blog, the PlayStation Network's Eric Lempel noted that there are improvements to the Mediago software to assist in moving PS Store items from the Internet to the PSP.
The PSP Go landed in the UK today, retailing at £225.
Apparently the firmware update will be out later this week. µ
I feel as though sony botched the psp. this time around they should have MADE it a phone too and listened to gamers and put a second joystick in it. instead they didnt and with the new tegra portables coming out I dont see why people would carry a phone with a psp. as soon as a phone with tegra comes out phones are gonna be on the next level. psp? I think I will pass
PSP Go = your games are worthless!
you are now blocked by sony from,
lending YOUR games
trading YOUR games
selling YOUR games
OR EVEN GIVING YOUR GAMES AWAY FOR FREE.
who's games are they exactly?
lets w8 for the sony bloggers lies of bu, but, but, steam does it, the umd's are noted out, you must be jealous, your stuck in the dark ages blah, blah, blah.
this company disgusts me with its anti-customer attitudes.
OK, just don't buy it. Or hack the PSP firmware and run games from the memory stick as this has been possible for two or three years, if not longer!
sony are trying to make a profit on this.
they did experiment with two joysticks on psp go i remember reading about it somewhere but they said it was too hard, not comfortable and meant that psp go games would be incompatible with the previos psp's. i think they should have done a bit more to this psp go.
It kinda reminds me of apple ipods. each new version has one extra feature. ie camera etc etc.
This psp go should have 128mb ram, inbuilt camera/mic, 480mhz cpu, slightly larger screen, more inbuilt storage
'Sensme' is available for older PSPs too. I just loaded it into my series 2000 PSP last evening.
I'm not sure what it's sppoed to do. It put everything into one category. Maybe I'll RTFM.
