MSI releases its X400 notebook

Beautiful, super slim, fashionably late
Monday, 21 September 2009, 13:55

MSI HAS ANNOUNCED the launch of what it says is its "super slim, ultra stylish, economically priced MSI X400 notebook", which also seems to have appeared fashionably late.

The little beauty was supposed to have been released in July, but MSI has only announced official UK availability and pricing today.

It might have been a bit slow getting into the shops because it runs Vista with an Intel Centrino processor. Everything seems to get started late and take more time with Vista.

However it must be worth the wait, because it appears to be a good looking laptop at a reasonable price, coming in at £499 and £569.

The MSI X400 has a 14-inch HD widescreen display, HDMI, Bluetooth and wireless 802.11n connectivity.

It weighs in at 1.5kg including battery and measures 9mm thin. It is available in "piano black" and "pearl white".

There are two versions of the machine. The X400-038UK comes with a 500GB HDD, an Intel SU3500 CPU and an external optical drive for £569. The X400-074UK, which will set you back £499, comes with a 320GB HDD, an Intel SU2700 CPU and loses the optical drive.

It has 2GB of memory, a 2-in-1 card reader, a 1.3MP webcam and MSI's "Vivid Image Enhancement" technology that claims to "give more 3D expression". However we would have traded the 3D expression for a greater expression of USB ports. Both models have only two. µ
