LENOVO IS ADDING SimpleTap technology to its Thinkpad X200 tablet and T400s laptop.
SimpleTap is an application designed to make it easier for workers to use the touchscreens on their devices.
In order to enter the world of SimpleTap, which sounds a bit like Tron to us - Lenovo talks of "A clean and efficient grid of colorful and transparent square tiles" - you tap the screen twice.
This brings up a list of hardware options that are rather less exciting than the announcement promised, "Turning on or off the wireless radio, ThinkLight and microphone, previewing the camera, enabling mute, adjusting the volume or screen brightness, locking the screen or putting the PC to sleep." This is customisable however so you can switch the options to whatever suits you best.
With the addition of multitouch screen tools Lenovo said that owners of the devices could use four figures to navigate through their applications and pinch, zoom, and flick through documents.
Users are expected to be those in engineering and design or any other occupation that requires finite control and manipulation.
Lenovo has also announced an optional 'super bright' screen for the X200. It said that this is coated with anti-reflective layer and provids a bright 400 nit screen, low 1.2 per cent reflectivity and a wide viewing angle.
SimpleTap is a download and will be released at the end of October. µ
