TOP BOFFINS concerned about the effects of mobile phone radiation have called for the FCC to buck its ideas up about what it thinks is safe.
At a scientific conference in the US, researchers from different scientific disciplines indicated that the current safety standards used in the former British colony of Virginia are too lightweight.
Dariusz Leszcynski, a researcher for the Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority in Finland told the conference that the FCC standards were based on limited research on humans.
His agency has issued two advisories to the public warning them about the perils of using mobile phones. The last one warned parents to limit their kids' use of mobiles.
The great unwashed are a bit confused by the hundreds of contradictory studies related to the effects of mobile phone use. More recent long-term studies involving humans suggest that heavy cell phone users of 10 years or more have developed brain tumours on the same side of their heads as where they used to hold their mobile phones.
US agencies that regulate mobile phones, namely the FCC and FDA, have not issued warnings. They tell the world that there is nothing to fear, the public should just go home and watch reality television like good US citizens - if it was the UK they would advise watching gardening shows and Changing Rooms. They say "the scientific evidence does not show a danger to any users of mobile phones from RF exposure, including children and teenagers."
Martin Blank, a professor and researcher in the Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at Columbia University told CNET that the FCC's standards are inadequate and misleading. He said that they are based on the heating of tissue which is meaningless.
He said that you need a certain amount of energy to cause a change in DNA, but that energy could be spent even before the temperature goes up and can be measured. People are led to believe that these standards say something, and they don't, he said. µ
People refuse to believe that doubling the Co2 level will warm the climate but the truly tiny amount of energy from a cell phone is going to kill them.
New rule. Stupid people aren't allowed to use technology.
They should rather pay attention to some phones that "explode" with style.
@ixplod
Some US citizens support exploding with style devices for religious fanatics as long as they are only hurting themselves.
We would also prefer, but do not require having to listen to them:
* talk about the device
* see what it can do
* have to witness the explosion
* clean up the mess afterwards
* talk about the news with friends
* wonder how their living idol is doing
Cancer for those malingers whom use cell as urban weapon, stalking people locally, well: it seems just deserts. However, what affects one, affects ALL.
Child are 3 or more times over maximum limit set by FCC, simply due to Lighter weight & affect IS Much Greater, especially Long Term Effects, which are Cululative. That is, Decades Latter you just start from where left off & get cancer sooner.
Cells are made with 1/4 Wattage of Power Blasters max fcc Wattage & Lower Power Units are amoung best cells offered. Its NO Brainer, Unless You WAKE up..
DRASHEK
If First Secretary Of State Lord Mandelson "Mandy", the Department For Business, Innovation And Skills had only intervened sooner,_ then perhaps the black box of that aviation blonde Radiohead would not have cut me off at the layby barber shop and mobile dental surgery!
Apple are have the right idea: Iplode them before they can sue. The U.K. population must be half-cut to 30 million to get the Optimum Population's Trust.
A wee bit off the sideburns and another on the rocks would you love? Err sausage and mash with receipt. I can't be arsed to take a haircut off the Charlie Sheen.
This might be a problem, but oh, wait - nobody care is the morons who chatter 24/7 on their cell phones get cancer and die...
