MOTOROLA HAS CONFIRMED that it will be flogging mobile phones running Google's Android OS.
It has organised a launch event in London on 15th September for the handset:

Motorola will be holding launch events that week worldwide for its yet unsighted Android mobile phone.
It's staging these like the planet wide invasion in the film Independence Day, starting in the US on 10th September and winding up here in London after the weekend.
There have been rumours and speculation for some time as to the next company to come out with an Android mobile phone, so the suspense is over at least for the moment, until the next time.
There have even been some images floating around of purported Motorola phones with names like 'Sholes' and 'Morrison' that are said to be the possible Android handsets, but we're not entirely convinced nor will we be until we have one in hand.
Not much more has been unveiled to us unsuspecting journalists who will be attending the launch, despite our efforts to pry a little more information from the company.
Both Motorola and Samsung will join the ranks of manufacturers that will be making Google mobile OS based handsets, while HTC retains a commanding lead in the category. µ
Let's see whether Moto manages to screw up an Android phone.
That's probably hard to do, but I am fairly confident that they are able to manage even that.
I'd rather pay 50 bucks more for the same feature list rather then buy a Motorola phone.
I had two Moto-phones:
The first one ("The Bone") which was good.
And the last one which convinced me to never look at any mobile phone product from Motorola again.
Regardless of how good the new Android phone looks on paper - I won't buy it. No thank you.
I have to say that I moved away from Motorola a few years ago, mainly because the motos started to lack features compared to the rivals like, they had poor quality cameras, small internal memory and the styling went a little awry.
However, the important part of all these gadgets (the phone bit) on all my previous Motorola phones were second to none, the quality of the voice call still surpasses some of the phones out now. They certainly put my Magic to shame when it comes to making a call!
