LG Watchphone walk-through

Exclusive hands on vid
Mon Aug 24 2009, 19:18

LAST WEEK we showed you pictures of unboxing LG's Watchphone. Now we bring you video of our walk-through and hands-on demo of this Dick Tracy-inspired device in all its expensive glory.

Some background on the GD910. It's a 3G HSDPA quad-band watchphone capable of video calling from its VGA camera, where the image is viewable on the 1.4-inch capacitive touch screen. Other niceties thrown in for good measure are Bluetooth, voice recognition, text to speech for SMS and an MP3 player.

It's hitting the streets on 27 August, at Orange and at an introductory price of £500, although Orange hopes it will rise to the fully blown-out cost of £1000 in time. µ

UPDATE: At the end of the video we said the screen is 640x480, we actually meant the video camera.

Cool

I'm sure I will want one for Xmas if the price is tagged reasonably AND,

1. It's not running Windows of any sort,
2. It has a powerful CPU,
3. It has voice recognition,
4. It support OpenGL (bonus),
5. I don't mind it run full cell (bonus).

No need to tap?

If I understand correctly, you talk to the watch, so anyone in earshot can hear both sides of the conversation. This could save us a lot in wiretap costs. Thank-you for bringing this to my attention.
