Boys don't make passes at female smart-asses - Letty Cottin Pogrebin
DIGITAL MEDIA firm DivX and Internet search portal Yahoo have ended their nearly year long legal dispute.
DivX said today that the argy-bargy, which had revolved around a toolbar of all things, is now over and was settled in its favour. DivX didn't provide the amount of the settlement, but we expect it might have caused some pained expressions at Yahoo headquarters.
DivX had argued that Yahoo was refusing to honour a two year co-distribution and branding relationship inked in 2007. Under the terms of the deal, Yahoo was supposed to offer its toolbar to DivX downloaders, but apparently Yahoo changed its mind at some point and backed out.
In November 2008 DivX decided that enough was enough and took the whole affair to the courts. To its joy the courts decided in its favour.
Although the firm remains tightlipped about how much fuller its wallet is due to Yahoo's settlement, it has raised its quarterly financial projections, much to the delight of its shareholders. µ
In the business world, both win is the best way to each one. DivX and Yahoo come to wake a little bit late.
