A HOST of media firms and the UK Government will work together to create and encourage more succesful digital media businesses.
Included in the hot list of involved parties so far are Spotify, Walt Disney, and Microsoft, who will be joined by about a dozen other firms with things to say and agendas to push. These include Wired magazine, Vivendi, Cisco, and BBC Vision.
The group will go by the name of c&binet and will hold a number of meetings to boost the knowledge base of companies working in digital media. These will include topics such as "How can a viable business be made out of online content without relying on advertising?" and "How best to ensure that those who generate and fund creative product are able to secure its value?".
The Government said that c&binet would "help business solve problems through international dialogue about the creative economy", adding that it would seek to create cross-border agreement on industry issues.
Introducing the group, Culture Secretary Ben Bradshaw said, "Britain is known across the world for the strength of its creative industries and the wealth of talent we possess. We want to make sure this success continues but to ensure sustained growth we need international co-operation. We also need to make sure the next generation of talent has access to the finance, support and new business models they need. I hope this year's c&binet event will be informative and inspirational, with lively debates and frank discussions, fostering new relationships across both the creative and financial worlds."
New Labour's Parliamentary princess and Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, Lord Peter Mandelson, has already signed up to give one keynote, so we suggest you start planning your excuses now. µ

Methinks the phishers in government who plagiarise creative efforts and seek to bask in their reflected glory need to realise that internetional dialogue is now the Master Control Facility...... for that is where Novel Developments are Selflessly Launched without their Prying and Self Serving Establishment Prior Knowledge for Predatory Feed/Snouts in the Trough Lead. One doesn't Need the Permission or the Sub_Prime Assistance of Third Party Clowns and Clones in Order to Succeed Magnificently and Magnanimously.
And to ignore Progressive Future Programs whenever they are Shared for Presentation and Investment, always Identifies the Jokers and Cowards dealing a Rigged Pack of Cards. Changing the Decks and the Games solves that little unpleasant problem nicely.
"Government launches digital media think tank" ..... anyone else realise that is yet another worthless gravy train with all the old hacks still milking the Sow and trying to remain Relevant to News Stories rather than True to General Views.
But how *dare* you call it "silly"?
Ill have you know that this exclusive and highly desirable brand cost the UK taxpayer in the vicinity of a quarter of a million pounds. So youd all better start appreciating it or else!
Campersandbinet is a very silly name for anything.
Of course, in a web page it would have to be written as C&binet which is even sillier.
Silly gov.uk. 0/10 must try harder
