Aussie government censorship plans are pointless

Prosecutors wade in
Wednesday, 5 August 2009, 10:39

THE NEW SOUTH WALES' head prosecutor has attacked the Australian Federal Government's Internet censorship plans.

According to IT Wire, the state director of public prosecutions, Nicholas Cowdery said that the "great rabbit proof fence" against porn will have only limited success if it manages to do anything at all.

He said that crime prevention methods need to be practical, and this just is not practical enough.

Despite being as popular as a social disease, the Aussie Government's disingenuous plans to force ISPs to install mandatory filters to block websites that have been "refused classification" are still being pushed ahead.

Cowdery questioned whether the proposed Internet filtering scheme will help him catch and prosecute more criminals such as child porn traders. He said compromises to freedom of expression would also need to be considered.

People looking to view banned material on the interweb will probably be able to bypass the filters, while those peddling material such as child porn will likely change their tactics to avoid detection, we reckon.

High profile attacks from the people who are expected to enforce the web censorship law, as well as by ordinary citizens who will be inconvenienced by it, will be deeply embarrassing for the government. µ

It's clear that politicians down under, just like here, have their brains located somewhere south of their equitorial trouser belts.

nice

It might be time to set up an encrypted proxy server similar in design to skype to prevent the proxy server itself from being blocked and charge 10 bucks an aussie. i might be wrong but i think you could use other clients to create the routing table to the proxy server allowing you past australia's blocks and you have the benifit of having your traffic encrypted and unsnoopable by govt. spookes.

From Beauty... To Dirty?

Before porn was just based on the display of beautiful women, hence the very early playboy magazines. Now it's a display of piss and poop ports of the human body. Nothing at all appealing there. Plus it add to "diversity" confusion on sexuality.

But there is hope that the strained system's pulling teeth in children's security online and including the bore generated by repetitive imagery [everything is limited] in prono, it's having an effect.

Too bad that the porno media is still portrayed as educative while dormant maniacs will upswing to action to deviancy even beyond the legal scope of society. Some education. The more you tickle, it will laugh.
