Adobe updates Flash and Shockwave

But not Acrobat Reader yet
Friday, 31 July 2009, 14:00

ONLINE PUBLISHING software house Adobe has issued updates to its free web animation Flash and Shockwave players.

The releases address critical security vulnerabilities that had surfaced a little more than a week ago, which are described in a security bulletin issued by the company.

Adobe makes its Flash player available for Windows, Mac and Linux systems, but it only offers the Shockwave player for Windows and Mac systems. Users will have to shut down and restart their web browsers after installing the updated players.

The company hasn't released security updates for its Acrobat PDF authoring or (PDF) Reader products yet, but it is expected to do so later today. µ

32-bit flash works with 64-bit

Re: 64BIT?

I don't see what the big deal is. 32-bit flash has worked on 64-bit linux for years now through nspluginwrapper albeit native 64-bit linux is always a welcome change. For winblows, who the @!#&*^% cares?

shockwave for linux

Adobe should realize that not supporting linux with shockwave gives more reasons to use windows. And with os-monopoly, MS can kill other software vendors like Adobe.

Vista Home Premium 64 Bit & Flashplayer resolution?

Not being the worlds leading computer software expert I hope this information is correct and of help.

I too find that Adobe still has not released a 64 bit compatible Flashplayer.

I like listening to BBC Radio 7, a UK digital radio station but since installing a 64 Bit version of Vista HP I could not listen to programs which are in the BBC Archives and which have already been aired.

I downloaded and installed the new Flock browser and now I can listen without any problems.

Although it may be an inconvenience for some to have 2 browsers, it may be worthwhile trying Flock for any other places which require the Flashplayer.
