If sex sells products, does bad sex sell bad products? - The Chicago Savant
CANADIAN COOLING outfit, CoolIT, is preparing to launch its completely revamped FreeZone Elite TEC cooler next week, for a whopping £299.
We're told the huge - and hugely expensive - unit uses six Peltier-effect plates to dissipate solar levels of excess heat and keep users' CPUs cool under pressure. Early sightings indicate it can suck up to 250W worth of heat.
Word on the Canadian street is that, if left to run without a blistering hot Intel or AMD CPU attached, the spunky liquid inside can even be chilled to a nipple-hardening 5 degrees C. This doesn't surprise us INQsters much, as Canadians know a thing or two about dealing with cold extremities.
.
Not wishing to snow on Spicer's parade, we INQsters do wonder whether most punters would actually need, or even want, to splash out around £100 more than an Intel Core i7 920 processor just for a big Canadian hunk of a cooler, but then again, if cooling is your bag, then maybe you've just gots to have it.
For those really into their extreme thermals, we hear there's more than a snowflake's chance in hell that the FreeZone Elite TEC cooler will tip up at UK retailer YoyoTech any day now.
We're also told the retailer will be more than happy to cater to hot INQ readers who wander in off the street with bottles of pop that need cooling. µ
What a hunk. Seriously, what a hunk :~)
(any chance this has been photochopped?)
The i920 might be £200, but the i975 is more like £800
The new D-Zero stepping i920 rocks and can easily be made to beat the i975, with the right cooling
Biggest challenge for CoolIT will be their own Domino, which does the job of getting the i920 to 4Ghz and only costs £65
I have to tell you guys that I contacted Cool it directly looking for one of these for review and I regret to inform the Inquirer that this is not true. There is no new Freezone Elite being released and they apologized for the muck up in the UK over this rumour. This is all totally false and a new freezone is not being planned until maybe 2010. Fix this article immediately as it is given a lot of false publicity that cool it does not want.
Thanks
Daniel
I have to agree with Daniel. The numbers did not add up either as the Boreas using 4 75W TEC's can dissipate ~500 Watts of Heat if fully cranked. I can easily create decent amounts of condensation with the click of a button.
