This report, by its very length, defends itself against the risk of being read - Winston Churchill
US HOMELAND SECURITY Secretary Janet Napolitano has killed a Bush administration program to expand the use of spy satellites to domestic law enforcement.
Two years ago, President George W. Bush's top intelligence and homeland security officials authorised the National Applications Office (NAO) to share spy satellite data with coppers.
The move was terrifyingly Big Brother and now Napolitano has said that local coppers don't actually want it. The fact that Democrats in Congress had barred funding for what they said could become a new platform for domestic surveillance might also have had something do with the decision.
According to The Washington Post, the Democrats were shocked to discover funding for the program in a classified portion of the Department of Homeland Security's 2010 budget.
Current rules are that US agencies can release spy satellite data for scientific purposes, such as creating topographic maps or monitoring volcanoes.
Bush wanted to use them for protecting borders and sea ports against 'tourists'. We're not sure that's quite what he meant but it sounded like that based upon how he pronounced what he said.
Napolitano suggested that the policy was one of the loonier measures of Bush's national security plan. µ
Is there no end to Bush Stupidity.....or American laziness to defend their freedom?
This is news to me and I stay on top of it. This is one time I agree with the Socialist, I mean Democrat party. We have enough of a police state in the USA already without allowing our over zealot cops to have access to high tech military stuff. Hell they all have M-16 and other military grade hardware already and love to use them. Waco still comes to mind.
But the Bush bashers can kiss my arse because the socialist party will do far worse, they will use nationalized health care and so called global warming laws and other socialist crap to invade every aspect of our lives if we let them.
Back in the middle 80's a miniaturizing of the GPS receivers was underway. This GPS receiver coupled with transmitter would be used by the NSA and other US intelligence agencies to do what they called "Asset Management. The assets could be anything they wanted to know where it was. It had to be man portable. It had to have a unique power source that could be queried only on demand. This would mask Local Oscillator frequencies so as not to show up on a bug sweep.
Now, the middle 90' rolls around and several iterations later and we now have the bugger around the size of a quarter. How about that. Well with a slight refinement one could create an undetectable chip set and place it in all Intelligence workers phones without their knowing about it. It was just good business to know where you kiddies are, right ?
911 happens and we are forced to trade up our freedom for security. The NSA's major stronghold against civil liberties is now dashed to pieces with the stroke of congresses pen or now with the stroke of the NAO's pen. With another stroke of the pen they allow every phone to be bugged by the NSA and now local law inforcement. They have the ability to turn your microphone in your phone even when it is powered off. Now with the voice to text capability they have the ability to look for keywords without involving a human analyst. Oh, it gets better. If this isn't worse, the NSA believes that everyone should have a Chip. Chip for you, chip for me, chip for your child and everyone is happy. Not really. Congress decides that the Real ID act should not be imposed because it is a direct assault on civil liberties. Congressman Ron Paul, love him or hate him, just saved everyone from having the NSA know where you are 24/7 via satellite with the Real ID active chip.
Now certain people in the NSA aren't happy with this so they decide to give away moving map software as well as the chip technology to cell and mobile platform developers. By 2010 their won't be a cell or mobile device that isn't tracked by GPS whether or not the GPS is enabled. In other words the NSA did and end run on congress and Real ID or no you will be tracked.
What are the key differences between Real ID or now the iPass with GPS tracking ? The law (Patriot Act) which is already written says you must carry the Real ID with you or face mandatory jail time at the discretion of the arresting officer. WTF ? Oh.. it gets better. You cannot buy or sell anything without registering the sale with the Real ID. WTF ? Oh, it gets better... Are you ready.. If you are caught using Silver or Gold to buy products or services without the Real ID, you can be sent to jail for up to one year without seeing the inside of a courtroom.
I have written extensively about chip technology and what they have been able to do with it. In one of my articles I wrote about the chips which attach to the optic nerve which receive outside signals which the brain is able to interpret. In another article I wrote about the University of Michigan Professor who created the chips which are able to decode and recode DNA. In a subsequent article I wrote about chimeric gene splicing chips which are no bigger that 3-5 microns which can be put in water without you noticing they are their. In another article I wrote about the tethering chips which are able to cause chemical reactions in the brain to induce sleep. Yes… I am a person who is being surveilled because I know more than most people about this technologies.
This is a brave new world. Are you ready... ? Its coming... I realize that some people think I am a paranoid guy who thinks the world is out to get him. Quite the contrary. I believe it is the agenda of only a few to put the wood, if you will excuse this euphemism, to yours truly. Many of my posts have been snatched and the recipients never got the messages. I know of only one agency which has the wherewithal to pull that one off. I am on their radar. Needless to say I won't be making any trips to the desert any time soon.
Heres My Quip, Published in WashPost:
One thing radar Nor cameras can penetrate inside cement building. Radar can move thru clouds, barely.
Article NOT wrong however. in programing are data files of what those secured areas look like, EG Your Home. that image is superimposed over electronic signal as if it had penetrated.
only few items NOT previously added to data file will be missing. Randomness will be mere guesswork, NOT actual images thru some mysterious X Ray process. Walls hide People & Possessions. No one and i mean NO ONE can do worse than the Bush/Cheney administration you partisan freak! WAKE UP!!!!
. . . how stupid some of you right wing Americans are. The Democratic party are socialists? They're more right wing than the most right wing mainstream parties in the UK and most other countries round the world you morons.
You clearly have no idea what socialism is, except that you fear it. Pathetic.
Do the world a favour and just use those guns you love so much on yourselves.
Riddle:
How many politicians does it take to terrorize their own nation by using fear-based policies? All of them!
Fear mongering on both sides.
-On one side: they'll spy on you. Think of the children!
-On the other: we're letting criminals get away. Think of the children!
I would like a system put in place that documents every time a satellite could be used for law enforcement but was not allowed. We could get an understanding of when it may have been practical and when it wasn't practical, and they we can weigh the pros and cons in an informed manner.
Why do posters claim we can have a GPS the size of a 'quarter'?
My company designed a hand-held state-of-the-art emergency device recently to allow a climber to hold the device on their wrist, press a big button on it to allow the device to read where it is and then SMS home and hopefully allow the climber to be rescued alive. You get the picture.
Guess what. Whilst the latest GPS chip with its built-in aerial is the size of 5p piece (that's a UK coin America).
The supporting telephone and chip electronics and counting the size of the 2 AA batteries, made it 4" long and 1.5" in diameter.
Hardly small and certainly not invisible.
I wish non technical people would stop trying to alarm Joe Public with fairy tales of smaller devices. It's RF-ID tags all over again!
You can't make any aerial (like the one on a GPS sensor) smaller than what fundamental physics allows - it's impossible.
Electronics you can make small, but you can't make aerials smaller. Not if you want range to read or transmit to.
