MOZILLA has let loose upon the web its Firefox 3.5 release candidate (RC).
The foundation announced the launch of the almost-ready-for-prime-time version of the long-awaited upgrade to its Firebadger web browser late Friday, saying that it still hopes to release the final version by the end of June.
Firefox 3.5 RC is the latest iteration since the Beta 4 version was released in late April. Initially targeted for release near the beginning of this month and reportedly incorporating significant performance increases and resource utilisation improvements over Firefox 3.0, the new version has been delayed several times.
The nearly 30 per cent of web surfers who prefer Firefox over Internet Exploder or the other alternatives have been looking forward to the release of Firefox 3.5 for a while, and it appears that their wait might be almost over. µ

Has it become multithreaded or do we still have to wait for a new version?
Would be nice if one waiting/hanging window would not hang the whole firefox application loading windows..

This site is showing yet again it's extremely anti Microsoft. It seems they wish to survive on Linux geeks only which is very brave considering they are so few!
@Author: A little late to the punch, are we? Firefox 3.5RC1 was released on Tuesday, and RC2 was out on Wednesday. You clowns should spend a little more time digging through Moz's FTP site. That way it can *really* be news when you find an RC, you know, instead of digging it up from someone else's news site and regurgitating it.
@Grow up: No self-respecting techie ISN'T anti-Microsoft. Except for their keyboards. Their keyboards are good [they didn't change the freaking delete key configuration like Logitech did grr.] Microsoft is the [necessary] d[evil], and IE needs to DIE. NOW. Don't believe me? ask ANY [other] webpage developer. :D
@author
thank you, some people actually have a life unlike Shane who is digging Moz's ftp site 24/7
@John
You grow up. You do not like this site go read msn.com. What is so anti MS in this article? Or are you Mr. Ballmer and you do not like the facts ?
@Shane
Get your head out of web pages and ftp sites. Go on date, get laid.
"This site is showing yet again it's extremely anti Microsoft. It seems they wish to survive on Linux geeks only which is very brave considering they are so few!"
Hey, I use Linux on my laptop after I dumped Millennium II, LOL But really I re-read the article and there was not one Microbloat rant in there.
Thank you for the article...
Even if its apparently "old news", I did not know about it and am happy to know ! :P
Now this is gonna make good old Steve Ballmer throw some chairs again:
Firefox 3.5 is already being adopted and counted as "other". When the stats sites start to recognize it correctly, Firefox will be the most popular browser, because for a web designer, there is no IE, there is IE6, 7 and 8, which are all very different and each will have a market share below that of Firefox.
This is not some evil plan to wipe Microsoft from the face of the earth...
...just from the face of the Internet!
Get lost already, Steve B! Eric won!
We grownups love anti-Microsoft.
More, please!
It's very subtle and you probably wouldn't notice it if you weren't looking for it, but here it is:

It may not technically qualify as anti microsoft ranting other than implying that it may blow up and kill you....
But if someone else thinks it's bashing, I'd just let them cry it out.
Oh crap, LOL, your right LOL. I missed it entirely, thanks.
@John, don't take it hard, this site slams Apple way more than Microbloat.
