Laptop sales rising
IT APPEARS that laptop sales might be on the verge of a recovery.
Taiwan's Inventec, which is the world's number four contract maker of laptops, says that it expects to ship more than five million of the things in its second fiscal quarter.
That figure is more than five percent higher than in the quarter before.
Inventec President Paul Wang said that forecasts from his clients were positive but he was not opening the champers just yet.
He said that the US market is not as bad as expected. But demand from Europe is not very good even though people had expected the Europeans to be a bit more likely to spend.
The outfit just started shipping small numbers of servers to Dell, which could mean it might see its server business double to $3 billion in the coming years. µ
