TAIWANESE FIRM GIGABYTE currently has its fingers in a lot of pies, busily making motherboards whilst also continuing to churn out desktops, notebooks, touchscreens and phones.
Many of Gigabyte's offerings are yet to hit the shop shelves over in Europe and the US, but poke about in the likes of Tokyo's Akhibara and the firm features rather prominently.
Two noteworthy offerings, set to tip up on Japanese shelves imminently, are Gigabyte's M1022M Netbook and the T1028M Atom powered TabletPC.

What's special about the M1022M - which sports an Atom N280, 1GB of RAM, 160GB of HDD and, of course, WiFi - is that it's almost anorexically thin and can be slotted into a sort of supporting crib, much like a PDA, allowing it to hook up to internal data whilst simultaneously recharging its battery juice.

Catering to the upcoming Windows 7 groupies, the T1028M, which is touted as the "first Atom powered Tablet PC", boasts a compact 10.1" touchscreen which can be swiveled and twisted to one's heart's content. The specs are nothing to write home about - Atom N270, 1GB of RAM, 160GB, WiFi - but the little touchscreen tablet sure is snazzy.

In related news, Gigabyte also just announced it would now be bunging its much lauded DualBIOS technology onto all the firm's upcoming motherboards, not just those aimed at the enthusiast market. The technology is particularly innovative as it saves a backup copy of a user's BIOS in case of sudden failure or death. µ
