Thermaltake launches EVO Blue

Pretty colours, pretty quiet

THERMALTAKE HAS LAUNCHED its latest and purportedly greatest range of power supplies to date, kicking off with an offering called the EVO Blue.

Catering to the sissy crowd - who apparently repeatedly badgered the firm for more "personalisation and flexibility" - Thermaltake has given in and dressed up this new range of PSUs with in-built colour-changing LEDs for the enthusiast fashionista.

Evo-140x140

The EVO Blue range comes in 550W, 650W and 750W flavours - all of which, we're told, are completely modular.

Thermaltake's CEO, Kenny Lin, said the new product line was the "direct result of an intense research campaign into the needs of that [enthusiast] community".

Lin also waxed lyrical about the product's "stunning good looks," "class-leading efficiency" and "noise suppression". Sounds more like a trophy wife than a power supply to us, but we'll let it go.

When asked by a curious INQaholic how the low-noise profile was achieved, Lin responded that it all came down to "an over-sized 14cm fan, with a whisper quiet bearing system" which enables the necessary air flow delivery "to achieve optimum cooling, without generating any superfluous noise."

If the noise reduction isn't enough to float your boat, Thermaltake is also saying it will throw in a five-year warranty, even for those batty enough to keep their systems running continuously in a 50 degree environment.

We're told the EVO Blue range will also be fully compatible with Nvidia's SLI and ATI's CrossFire technology and should hit UK shelves from August.

BOTTOM LINE: PSUs with multiple LEDs built in, which do a fairly good impression of a peacock. µ
