Google might be worried about Bing

Not much, but still worried
Monday, 15 June 2009, 11:18

THERE ARE SIGNS that Google is taking steps to counter any momentum that Microsoft might have suddenly acquired with its new search engine called Bing.

The New York Post ran a story claiming that fear gripped Google after Bing came out and co-founder Sergey Brin ordered "urgent upgrades" to Google's service.

Brin has appointed himself head of a team to work out how the Vole's search algorithm differs from the one Google employs. The Post claims it is rare for Google's co-founders to have such hands-on involvement in a project.

One of its deep throats told the Post that Bing seems to be of particular interest to Sergey. Google is saying nothing useful about the matter.

Bing's launch increased Vole's search share up to 11.1 per cent last week from 9.1 per cent the prior week, according to numbers released by market analyst ComScore. But that does not seem to be what has Google bothered, as its focus appears to be the algorithm.

If Microsoft has come up with an especially good Internet search algorithm then Google might well be interested. Google's own search algorithm is a closely guarded secret, similar to KFC's secret recipe of herbs and spices or the component 7X in Coca-Cola. But we would have thought that Bing might be more of a worry to Yahoo.

AT&T, USENST,TORT & GOOGLE

Last week, Company as Honest As STate of Israel, Announced Closing USENET.

UseNet IS Large GOOGLE Property. US Governemnt PASSED Laegislation that MAKES Provider, ISP, Moderator & Internet Portal, Legally BINDING liable, FOR ALL ITS Information Content Provided, From ALL sources Displayed.

Not Just Part. Could GOOGLE Simply BE Tortrd into Extinction? Believe So.

Although AT&T Is known to Go down To Last Person, Flailing. Never Admitting Defeat. ONE Thing IS Clear, AT&T Admits Legal Liability IN USENET POSTING. Worse, USENET Distributes ILLEGAL Narcotics Thru Store Front Law Schools, NationWide. Met Few.
USENETS' Symposiums of Disarray. Miscreates & Losers, Shunned BY Normal Public. Worse than Merely Being Insulted By Machine. USENET DBA AT&T DBA GOOGLE Are Involved IN CRIMINAL: ACTIVEITIES ONGOING, DAY TO DAY.
TORT CASE Would TAKE Hundreds of Thousands of Pages or More & could Involve Billions of Dollars In Substaniated Claims & Redress By General Public. Who Knows How Far USENETS Information Flows.

BING Is NO Comparrison To Yahoo Nor Other Search Engines. IN FACT BING IS Unique Alternative of ? Import.

ARREST Perpetrators. SERGY Means Surgon in Russian, maybe Surgie IS BIT On Miff. Taking REVENGE On HAPLESS Children. NO LONGER DOES USENET ASK AGE OF VIEWER. ANY CHILD COULD BE HARMED GREATLY BY USENET & GOOGLES DISTRIBUTION. AT&T OWES PUBLIC WHOLE LOAD. PUTTTING USENET, AT&T & GOOGLE OUT OF BUSINESS IS BEST ANSWER.

They arn't that hot.Nor Unique.

BING is getting momentum - just because BING is set as "default" in the browser, when one is updating windows or IE

Get the facts right

Before quoting "fact" Allan you might want to get it right first. Bing is only default for upgrades from ie6 or lower to ie7 or ie8.

Now considering most have already had ie7 forced upon them, if they have adjusted their search preferences and install ie8 with keeping custom settings Bing will not be installed or set as default.

Peeing their pants already!

Quoting a tabloid owned by Rupert Murdoch isn't gonna get you any extra credit, Nick!

Try to do some research of your own once in a while. It isn't that hard: Go over to StatCounter GlobalStats where they have all sorts of stats over time, broken down by country and region.

There you'll learn that Bing went beyond Yahoo on a single day only. And it went beyond 10% in the US only! That's when our hormonally challenged North American friends discovered there were actual titty videos on Bing. One day later they found out they could just as well type pussy.org in their address bar and keep their favorite search engine.

They rest of the world had no such climax.

blind search

At the end of the day who cares which search engine as long as it finds the appropriate results. Having said that, it can be hard to get past the fact Bing is from Microsoft. Which leads me to... a blind search...

b Sontaran War Leader /b

what are you talking about? Don't you recognise Prostetnic Vogon Jeltz from H2G2G?

A fitting likeness to Stevie "out of this world" Balmer I agree.

But get your facts right please...Douglas Adams would be turning in his grave to be associated with the Sontaran rather than a Vogon...

Google can't be too afraid...

A friend pointed out a ad for Bing on a google page. If they are helping MS promote Bing then they mustn't be too worried.

But they should be. I tried Bing out and got better results than either google or yahoo could provide. Of course further use will tell the truth, but for now Bing looks like it could be the best out there.

NY Post? C'mon...

I wonder since when the New York Post started to be a credible source for anything, especially tech-related.
