HOW TO SELL the highest end - and correspondingly highest price - graphics cards in today's market?
Well, antialiasing, textures and effects might not be enough to justify spending the extra dosh. How about the real thing, many more pixels to load those GPUs further? After all, much higher resolution not only enables you to watch the upcoming "beyond HD" video content, but also better fonts in your documents, larger spreadsheets and multiple web pages open at the same time.

So the Asus graphics girl, Michelle Chen, put together a lovely display where twin Asus Mars dual-GTX285 cards - yes, the grand total of quad-SLI GTX285, a four GPU combo in two slots - drove a biiiig 56-inch ChiMei 3840x2160, 16:9 aspect ratio QuadHD display. The eight megapixel (or as Jen-Hsun at Nvidia would call it, XHD2) resolution is still a bit less than the six-year old 22-inch IBM T221 3840x2400 16:10 Golden Ratio monitor, which is ideal for any kind of usage, but it's a big step forward, especially as games can now make more use of such high resolutions.

As you can see, it's a perfect graphics and monitor match. With MARS, Asus managed to do its own version of a "beyond GTX295" dual GPU card. It has two full-speed GTX285 cards per slot, a total of 2GB RAM, a full complement of 240 shaders and 512-bit buses per GPU. (I also hope it gets the 670MHz GPU OC speed factory preset.) Asus matched the dual MARS setup with a good monitor able to actually use the twin dual-GPU quad-SLI setup to the fullest.
If you're not in the mood to spend thousands for the whole outfit, dual ROG Matrix GTX285 OC cards can provide much of the same pleasure at lower cost.
Now, I wouldn't mind a 26-inch or 32-inch 4096x2400 monitor here. With it, I can watch high end 4K pixel screen width digital video camera recordings native, and also handle all the older PC resolutions without interpolation at or near full screen. Asus monitor division, where art thou? µ
don't know what I want more, the video cards or the monitor, they are both the sex.
price?
the price isn't the sex
The price is the sex, because u get *&^%ed paying for it. But at least its a good *&^%! :D
whaaa !!! u pedvert! :)
There's a video of a guy at computex playing Far Cry 2 at 3840x2160 res. on very high using 2 of these GTX295 Mars Editions and the gameplay was laggy.
My 4870 Toxic at 1920x1200, "1/3 the above resolution", on Ultra High gets around
60 fps...
Only an idiot would pay 700$+ for one of these....
I think Michelle Chen is better looking then that graphics card setup; is she married?
I picked up the DVI triple head to go a while ago but can't play anything at the 5760 x 1200 (7MP) that I'd like to with this 3870X2.
ATI answers with competition:
Till Ruby comes out with Venus.
Oh. In case you didn't know, Ruby's up the duff expecting quads:

I don't have the complete specs, but I'm sure they all will include a 2amd licence.
We are particularly proud of the walled garden which provides the perfect spot for a hot summer day, with individual areas being ideal for garden parties and semi-private hire.
I'm not sure the sizes but know they go all the way up to the legs.
50" or greater 4k gaming please.

Yeah, maybe in 10 years...
Current crop (or crap?) of ,,best" consumer camcorders ignored good 720p for crappy 1080i. Exception is Xacti2000, which lacks OIS...
And please let me know when we will find a good monitor, with good angles, no backlight bleeding, good color, good interpolation, good contrast/speed... and no insane price.
As I sayed, maybe in 10 years.
Has anyone done the research to determine what is the limit of detail that the human eye can see? For a long time it was assumed that because the eye can gloss over blank frames at 30 Hz that was all you needed, but yet we have 120 Hz (or even 240 Hz) to reduce "motion blur". How about pixel size? It's not a matter of just number of cones/rods and some geometry, as the brain can glean much finer detail than that from the multi-sampling, composite nature of binocular vision. So what's the limit? How few nanometers at how many meters distant? Anybody know?

What, are you a product of the 1990s Microsoft marketing department?
When i bought 24" 1920x1200 Samsung LCD monitor for $4000 5-7 years ago i was shocked and surprized to see completely unacceptable pixelation of monitor
For not to be bothered by clearly visible pixelation we need MUCH higher resolutions than damn prehistoric HD (1920x1080 or 1920x1200) which are acceptable only for 20-22" monitors
Mirror, Mirror. Its Smoke & Mirrors, look closely, two MARS Boxes arn't even interconnected. When 'puters where Dvd Cool, actual display was less than Standard. about 1/4 data of Dvd Player.
Now Get Burner, Dvd & Blu Player. What, Now next Gen Display.
Does IT Have ALL 18 ATSC Tunings? Does IT Even Work, As Photo'd? ALL That Squirm, For Just Wee, itty-bitty titties.
NOT Even Sure If Main Exist that could play Four of those beasts, yettt....Why NOT 32X Slotting? None of Dual PU Grog worked until Dewal Core, Now Non of Dual gpu ....? Hey for $200 you can have phenom II quad per U.& Main. Play Fun DDR2&3games, when combine those core Memory bandwidths into ONE real -=future=- Snapper, its 47.8 Total Gb/s. Up Past OLD TV Transmission Range for final data out, Past NEW Standards, too. Mapbe thats WHY Larger Screen Comes to MIND.
Nowdays Too, IS Much More Powerful. Maybe You Can RETURN To Mar.essss.
There NO Cleaner Image Than Your Peepers Show, ONWARD HO!!!

What's up with the disconnected SLI connectors? Is asus doing something that's not obvious?
