NTT DoCoMo sticks cash transfers on mobiles

Nibble Cash cards are so last year
Wednesday, 27 May 2009, 12:34

MOBILE PHONE OUTFIT NTT DoCoMo is to launch a new service enabling cash transfers simply by entering the recipient's mobile phone number.

According to the AP this means that, after applying for an account online, a punter can send money to another DoCoMo subscriber's bank account even if they do not know the recipient's bank details.

The cash gets added onto the users phone bill. A spokesperson for DoCoMo said that cash transfers will be limited to $316 per month for each subscriber initially, but we imagine that the service could also be the beginning of something more interesting. µ

umm...

We already can pay with your cell phone in Holland for your train tickets... and other things. Why is this so 'amazing'?

not sure if 'amazing'...

but the new thing seems to be than you can move money from one phone to another rather than from a phone to a phone-cashier. Like if you could move money from one credit card to another and not just to a card-reader. I guess
