Track that cheating spouse of yours

Gadgets and Google help betrayed spouses
Friday, 22 May 2009, 20:35

BETRAYAL IS a pretty common affair on the Internet. Many a household has lost its members to the charms of instant messaging, photo swapping, Internet dating, live cam action and so on... it's too long a list to quote here, really.

But, technology cuts both ways, and devices like this one we found on a Spanish site - the Wintec Easy Showily (sic) - advertised as the "GPS Infidelity Locator" combines the power of Google Maps with all the paranoia of an insecure geek.

It's a simple device that keeps a log of the GPS co-ordinates polled at intervals. It plugs into the USB port of a PC and uploads everything to Google Maps. If you're (un)lucky enough you might even catch your spouse and their lover on Streetview.

We'd question the effectiveness of said devices, though. The fact is that hiding something like a GPS device inside a vehicle, purse or other container is pretty silly as it's bound to get blocked by cover or interference.

Another thought crosses our mind. These are cheap and easy to use, sure, but when your spouse takes you to divorce court, you might want to slap yourself silly and ask why you bought it in the first place. Let's face it, there is a little matter of invasion of privacy and sooner or later it'll blow up in your face.

Why not invest 99 €urobucks in taking him or her out for dinner and a movie instead, and maybe there'll be something left over for the weekend? µ

Someone you should not notice

First off let me say that I am very very irritated by the level of surveillance that every government seems to be implementing. The fact that the NSA and Nokia pushed GPS into phones because the Real ID act failed in congress is a travesty. We are at war with those who want to implement total control. They want to know who you sit with and who they sit with. In this way they can tell everything about you. This is predicated on predictive models using the Promise S/W or other AI relational databases which profiles you. Why do they want to know you ? So they can control you. If you think you are free you are an idiot..

Like microchip driver licence.

USA ask us in canada to put chip on the driver licence if you want to cross the border without a passport. They say it's to speed up the bordercrossing because they can verify more rapidly if you have a criminal record. What do you know, it use the same technologie used to track containers on cargo ship/dock. So now your tracable everywhere in the USA (Almost) but they deny it of course.
A journalist also showed that is easy to intercept the signal and steel the id of the driver.

Way to go !!

Not true!

This quote is not true.

"It's a simple device that keeps a log of the GPS co-ordinates polled at intervals. It plugs into the USB port of a PC and uploads everything to Google Maps. If you're (un)lucky enough you might even catch your spouse and their lover on Streetview."

Streeview is not live but a collection of picture images taken in 360 degree format. YOU WILL NOT CATCH YOUR SPOUSE AND THEIR LOVER ON STREETVIEW.

But you can use GPS Live tracking systems and learn where they travel, stop, routes, etc. a Fantastic tool the 7Day Detective, America's Private Investigator. http://www.7daydetective.com

Something is seriously wrong

If we are out of money why did we bail out the British "The City" with too many zeros... to count. If we are out of money they will print more. If we are out of money then why are they paying congress and the President... If we are out of money and a run on the banks has happened then where is marshal law... ? or has it not marshaled itself yet.. ?

In the words of WC Fields.. "I smell a RAT"...

The tinfoil hatters show up

This is not about gov't tracking you, it's about private individuals tracking other private individuals. It's creepy, but totalitarian it's not. A totalitarian gov't would keep GPS to itself.

Remember that there have been private detectives for a long time, most of whose work was tracking suspected spouses.

I like having GPS in my phone. The jump from a law enforcement capacity to track things, to "so they can control you" is ludicrous. If you're scared that teh man will track you to your Ron Paul meeting, leave your cell phone at home.

GPS receiver in your phone is "not" a transmitter, lol.

Hoever, the phone signal does transmit, and this can be used to track you. But so what? Who cares if you are tracked? Are you reall that interesting or dangerous that someone would want to track you?

Phone tracking has helped saved many people's lives here in the UK. The police can narrow you down to within 100m-300m and get a helicopter up. It's been done and documented in the news, so it must be true! ;-) I've seen it on tv.

As for tracking cheating spouses, 40% cheat. 40% of marriages fail in UK too. Coincidence?

Are we meant to get married?

Does any other species get married?

Is having a life companion that you love only for the fortunate?

If you had the "one" would you know it?

Are you one of the lucky ones or not?

Tracking, will be cool if I can get my car to drive me somewhere automatically, but someone will say that the govt might use it to make them go to work when they have a hangover and it's against their human rights!

Information on internet activity is available right on your home computer

Information about internet activity is available right on your home computer - in terms of temporary internet files, emails, internet chats, instant messages, viewed pages, etc. You can use a tool such as biterscripting ( http://www.biterscripting.com ) to find out what's going on. Take a look at this article which explains how to do it in detail - http://www.experienceproject.com/question-answer/You-Can-Find-Out-If-Someone-Is-Cheating-Using-Temporary-Internet-Files-On-Your-Computer/63663 .

I will suggest that you do it with a cool head and not in a rage. Also that you do it after understanding how much you are legally allowed to search.
