FORMER MEMBER of the Hitler Youth and now infallible Pope, Benedict XVI thinks it is a nifty idea for the yoof of today to spam others with Christian messages.
The Pope, who has offended right wing Jews by forgiving right wing non-Jews who don't believe that Hitler killed many of their relatives, and Muslims by quoting a 15th century Catholic saint, is now having a go at network managers who will have to unclog their networks from shedloads of Catholic spam.
Speaking at the Roman Catholic Church's World Communications Day, the Pope told young people to bear witness to their faith through the digital world. They should employ new technologies to make the Christian Gospel known, he said.
A Vatican website, www.pope2you.net, will be linked to the social network Facebook so that young people can send the Pope's message to their friends. This is assuming that they will still be their friends after getting a message from the Pope.
Fortunately few Catholics under the age of 40 listen to the Pope much any more as his doctrinal stances are increasingly less relevant to the problems of today's world. This means there will probably be few modern yoof willing to take part in the children's spam crusade. µ
I feel there's gonna be a lot of flamin' here...
I'll come back in half an hour, the brigade should be up by then.
Most Cathlics only know doctrine and traditions. Most of which have no origins in the bible or are taken horribly out of context. Cease and desist.

Organized religion, atleast western organized religion, is probably the worst plague this planet has ever seen. There is nothing wrong with spirituality but do like the buddhists and don't try to push it on others.
I know, I know, he's a creepy nazi, but that's kinda the point. The very fact that this guy is pope prooves without doubt that the Catholic Church has totally lost the plot and has no credibility at all. The last 'obvious clue' in a long line of 'obvious clues' dating back through the ages.
Loved the post by 'vondrashek' too, didn't understand it as i don't speak 'bot' but 'Marine Corpse, and 'Life after birth' - lol, as pointless as the pope and as witty as the bible
Even the Pope, byword (or byperson) for the most out of touch person on the planet, has been made aware of the power of social networking. That's got to help when trying to convince your managers it's worth investing in this field.
I'm new around here, so i don't know what the deal is. I've seen mention that it's a bot, but who made it and what is it's purpose? And where does it come up with it's post material?
The only good religion is NO religion.
The are a plague and the most common reason for war and or crap.
The ordinary people pay the price for their beloved religions.
Religions always suppress others that are not of their believe.
People like the Pope should be jailed for the rubbish they cause.
They are the main reason AIDS spreads so rapidly.
They are the terrorists on this planet.
Just look at it: They all say if you don't believe you end up in HELL!
This is TERROR!
Look at what the Jews are doing to the Palestines, same thing! (oeps we are not allowed to say that because of WW-II, well they do the same to the Palestines!)
And don't get me started on the Middle-east with Iran and their Muslin TERROR.
I say, ban all religions.
The catholic church, founded in 350 AD, at the council of Nicea, by the express initiative of Roman emperor Constantine, for political reasons, based on a book called the bible, written 300 years after the death of Christ, all framed on the scholar principle (you don’t need to prove anything, it’s god’s word), without any empirical reasoning... What a joke. Those deluded Christian must be very desperate in this year of celebration of both Darwin’s theory of evolution and Galilee astronomical breakthrough anniversary!
It’s sooo laughable, it’s becoming embarrassing for all those who settle for ‘’faith’’ and ‘’believing’’ in the modern and science world of 2009.
Do I have faith or do I believe the sun will rise up tomorrow? Of course not because I KNOW it will because I’m aware and I understand physics principle. The ‘’need’’ of god to explain the universe has been superseded by science and they just don’t know how to handle it anymore. It’s the beginning of the end for them and it shows... After thousands of years of stupid and regressive dark ages, where mankind invented over 12 000 different gods and deities, reasoning, rationality and logic is now more and more prevailing. It’s about time we free ourselves from this dogmatic poisoned curse nonsense called religion.
Ramon Zarat
This article is spamming the world with an anti-christian message. It even uses a bit of sensationalism to spice things up. So, what's your point?
And, what ever happened to objective journalism?
The Hitler YOuth was a crime committed against the pope, not by him.
**********
FORMER MEMBER of the Hitler Youth
**********
Young Germans were compelled to be in the Hitler Youth. People in many nations are still compelled to be in the military (i.e. Israel) or at a minimum must register in the selective service (i.e. the States).
You know why kids were compelled to be in the Hitler Youth? Because comeplling them was the only way to make them join!!! Lil' pope was made to go, when he would rather have been riding his bike or playing stickball.
Jeesh!
Mike,
All religious "leaders" are the same.
They all have the same message:
Believe or goto HELL!
However most go beyond that and kill people to spread the word!
Pope - Condoms are forbidden!
Islam - They kill sexual different people and suppress female.
Jews - Fight Palestines over the "Holy" land all in the name of safety!
Only a handful of Asian religions deserve the name peaceful.
All the rest, Islam, Jews and Christians are as anti-Humane as one can be.
They learned nothing over time but more violence.
A peaceful religion should embrace people and love then no matter what they believe.
Those 3 do not, they want to control you, as best as they can.
Who cares people get killed in the process? It was gods will remember.
BULLSHIT!
People are not logical, but more on that in a minute.
The only thing I don't like about the hardcore Christians is their arrogance and smugness, and the anti-Christians are just as bad. It's not a Christian problem; some people are just dicks.
People complain that the church takes people's money. Rupert Murdoch did no better, and not in the name of Christianity.
People claim that Christians are closed minded. Sports fans are no better. And, yes, people have killed each other in the name of sports. Sometimes as a sport.
Now, as far as people being logical:
People buy horriby expensive cars because the commercial shows us how happy we'll be. The wind will blow through our hair, we'll be smiling, a shiny car will make us totally fulfilled. People buy into Christianity because they're told how happy they'll be FOR ETERNITY. Have we become more reasonable by buying cars instead? More logical? No, we just buy into things that cause more pollution.
Do you really believe reasoning, rationality and logic are now more and more prevailing? What a joke.
We have climate scientists saying that using a lot of electricity is bad for the environment, and then running power-hungry computers to 'study' the problem. The computers don't fix anything, they actually make it worse. Is that 'logical'?
You said "However most go beyond that and kill people to spread the word!"
Well, lots of killing has been done over the ages, and lots of it had nothing to do with Christianity. Lately, the killing has been about oil.
You don't prescribe to religion because people kill in the name of religion, so by the same 'logic' you better stop using oil, any product derived from oil (including plastics) and any product transported by a vehicle that is dependent on oil.
Is there anything they don't/won't justify in the name of "God"? When will Jebus inspired viruses/spyware be bestowed upon us? Is it not enough that they plague every other local TV channel with their silly dogma? They can't even get their own leaders to follow Jesus's teachings and now they're proclaiming e-crime? The sooner people evolve out of this religious institutional control, the better the world will be for it. If an omnipotent being wants you to do something, I'm sure it will be able to let you know directly w/o filtering through these pompous nuts.
"The Pope, who has offended right wing Jews by forgiving right wing non-Jews who don't believe that Hitler killed many of their relatives, and Muslims by quoting a 15th century Catholic saint, is now having a go at network managers who will have to unclog their networks from shedloads of Catholic spam."
Legate thee to a nuncio and pass the papal paper!
Flush it! Did nowt one ever teach thee concerning ambiguus pronouns and running on? Thou woodst do well to apprentice after a shadow grammarian.
Well, the Israelis have warned us on the perils of using one's facebook.
Oh dearie me! The nein of quips! Again!
Its funny, you're here arguing against the people who have obvious problems with Christianity and all you touch on is, "people buy stuff to make the happy, its just the same but worse, right?" and
"People kill for all sorts of things, since A=B, and B=C, A=C, right?"
It always astounds me to see Christians try and justify their beliefs by pointing to all sorts of pointless, trivial arguments. It really boils down to one thing.
There is no God.
Slice it anyway you want, you believe there is an omnipotent super being whose existence can never be proven. Why should I believe in something like that? Because someone wrote it down in a book? Rush Limbaugh has written a lot of books, that doesn't mean I believe that the Obama is going to rape my children and give the US to the Chinese.
According to the studies I'm involved with the Bible, what some say here is truthful, in FACT the Bible does say that Religions will be done away with to make way for the lasting truth.
I won't elaborate on this here, it up to each and everyone to find it climbing a high structure to find it.
Jesus warn the Jews actually about traditions, but did they listen? Matthew 15:1-11
After Jesus' death and resurrection, Jerusalem was destroyed serving a severe blow to that centre of whatever traditions were installed there. Matthew 23:37-39
Note he emphasized that Jerusalem was "Your House" not God's house that was abandoned to them.
That's how reprehensible their acts were in ignoring God. Rome is a city no better.
You said 'There is no God.'
So what if there's not? I don't really care. The last time I went to chirch was to attend a wedding, maybe a year ago. Now that my 'credentials' are established:
People have raised points here that
1) people kill and do other horrible things in the name of religion
2) religious people are not logical
3) religious people are jerks
My responses have been that:
1) people also kill and do other hirrible things when it's not in the name of religion. i.e. the American Civil War.
2) non-relgious people can also be illogical
3) non-religious people can be jerks, too
You also said 'you believe there is an omnipotent super being whose existence can never be proven'
-No, I don't believe that. I didn't even inply it. But I also don't believe in stereotyping.
By the way, anyone who has a problem with a 'A=B, and B=C, therefore A=C' argument is as closeminded as any religious fanatic.
It's like CB said: Is there anything they don't/won't justify in the name of "God"?
Bad people do bad things and justify them with a good cause. That good cause may be security, human rights, or religion. I don't practice a religion but I know people who do. Most of the time they never mention that they're religious, but you sort of suspect they are because they act like christians: humble, polite, and respectful of others. The only guy in the room that will look a girl in the eyes instead of the boobs, is the guy you want to get rid of.
We went to war in Iraq over oil. We justified it by saying it was to fight terrorism, but we really did it for wealth. That doesn't make anti-terrorism a bad thing, it just sucks when someone takes an otherwise good cause and screws the world with it.
Likewise: The crusaders went to war in the middle east for wealth, but instead of doing it in the name of anit-terrorism, they did it inthe name of christianity. That doesn't make christianity a bad thing, it just sucks when someone takes an otherwise good cause and screws the world with it.
Based on the comments I've read throughout the years, I'm pretty sure I'm the only right-wing Catholic that reads INQ, let alone the only former atheist right-wing Catholic physicist. Anyway, here goes...
B16 was forced into Hitler's Youth, like all other youth of his time. He most certainly did not want to be there. I'm pretty sure he's not calling for spamming the world. And you'd be surprised just how many of today's youth are hard-core and not, as the author suggests, ignoring the Pope. In the past, especially in America, you had Catholics who went to church just cause they were Catholic and that's what Catholic's did. Catechesis was abysmal, at best, and no one had a clue what Catholicism actually was. There is an ever increasing number of highly educated Catholics out there these days that do know their faith, and furthermore are kicking out 5-10 offspring, passing on to them that same level of education, both secular and religious. While the rest of the enlightened world dies off selfishly refusing to reproduce because they believe that we are a plague on the universe that must be eradicated, cafeteria Catholics included, the real ones are exploding onto the world scene. And while, contrary to popular opinion, we have no desire to kill anyone, frankly we don’t need to. You’ll kill yourselves off just fine by not producing any more of yourselves. You try to hide behind proclamations of living in peace and harmony with nature and having a rational and deep understanding of the universe, of your place in it, and of your sexuality. In reality, your just a bunch of selfish b’s, hording all your time and money for yourself, most of you with zero educational background in anything even remotely scientific, and basically just wanting to penetrate anything that moves for lack of anything more meaningful to live for. Furthermore, even less that most Catholics of yesteryear, you really have no concept of what the Catholic Church is or what she teaches. If you really want to find out, an excellent place to start is catholic.com. Likely none of you will even consider looking into it, other than maybe to launch a DOS, but I thought I’d throw it out there anyway. On that note, I’ll leave you with the oft quoted Bishop Fulton J. Sheen: “There are not more than 100 people in the world who truly hate the Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they perceive to be the Catholic Church.”
Well...where to begin?
I'm very much concerned with the beginning...you know, the beginning of things. One this is based on another that is based on another...god always was, is and will be, inspired flawed man to author a perfect holy book...false A is proof of false B etc...it's all very interesting to me.
Despite my best efforts, I cannot disprove god, but religion can be easily disproved.
To make it short, I ask this question;
If god is god, why does he need the pope to spread his message?
Christ's sakes,
Of all the things to post... tell the pope to go to hell. We had enough propaganda and preaching god damn it. He can take a holy s*** crusade for all I care.
they seemed to be the only ones who could deal with the ORI
The human soul is like a labyrinth. Many are those who lose their way and yet presume to lead others into the same dark catacombs in which their own common sense perished.
Ever seen a female cat in heat ? It will brush up against your leg over and over, and if you pet it ,it will immediatley squat down and It's back legs start going up and down uncontrollabley, as if to say ...'Do Me , Do Me'!
Ever seen a male Dog thats has smelled a female dog in heat ? It's penis will come out and it will start humping the air, humping any other dog, or humping your leg if you it could, as if to say...'I gotta Hump , I gotta Hump' !
I guess we would call this behavior Animalistic Instinct. It seems you cannot train or stop an animal from doing these behaviors. It also seems we have many humans that are EXACTLY of the same state of mentality...'Do Me Do Me , I gotta Hump I gotta Hump !!!
Since most Religions try to curb this above kind of Manimalistic behavior into a set of rules ,like marriage first and then only allowed with your partner that you married...,well many MANIMALS REVOLT and religion soon becomes the unwanted attempt to train these Manimals to abstain from this kind of behavior. Since I would call this Manimalistic behavior , and one of the main behavioral reasons AIDS was spread so quickly (the Do and Hump anyone you can mentality).
I'm not saying SOME religious people do not also (usually secrectly) practice this manimalistic behavior also, I'm just stating this is NOT the ACCEPTED behavior most religions teach or strive for. We are supposed to have more developed brains and wisdom ABOVE animals and not act like them!
@Bas so your comment "People like the Pope should be jailed for the rubbish they cause.
They are the main reason AIDS spreads so rapidly." Your comment Does not hold water and is the rubbish.
Apparently religion is a product of evolution, so unfortunately unless you ban evolution, you're going to get stuck with religious nutters, and since banning evolution won't work, seeing as it is a natural process, then the only alternative to eliminating religion is to ban humans, and hope like anything religion doesn't evolve again in another species.
Time to bring on The Terminator?
Interestingly the institutions that encouraged intellectual reasoning that led to people coming to the conclusion that religion and God are a waste of time evolved out of religious institutions, so if religion had been banned from the beginning presumably there would be no atheists either, as there would be no God concept in humans to either accept or reject.
Presumably we'd have to find some other excuse for all the wars and mayhem caused by humans then, or perhaps not, as maybe we'd still be swinging in the trees.
Not only it is garbage journalism but it is also cowardly journalism. The author does not even have the decency to sign his literary vomit that is devoid of any substance (and most readers commenting just follow suit). It is amazing how people can easily spew anti-religious hatred on the internet while hiding behind their keyboard.
not only this website is worthless when it comes to technology (just read a Microsoft or Nvidia story), but it is even more irrelevant when it tries to comment on religion that it does not understand because of blindness caused by illogical hatred
even the national enquirer has more class
I wanted to say stick to technology! but even there you only produce garbage
They're both bad counsellors of happiness and friendship, which is what the Pope's speech was about. If your hate is so strong, there could be some kind of beauty beyond your reach (say GT300, The Catholic Church). One of the requisites of sanity is to disagree with the majority of the British public (in this case: Inq). Cheers
smtap, so you're really an atheist turned Catholic huh? What momentous sad unexplainable event happened in your life for such a polar shift to occur? Frankly, when I hear of such conversions, it makes me think that the person has succumb to emotional damage and thus has little objectivity or that the person was agnostic rather than atheist but that doesn't sound as powerful when eluding to your "divine inspiration".
Yes, maybe the enlightened world is dying off voluntarily while the masses of weeds continue to sprout everywhere but that type of extinction happens everywhere in nature where the environment is no longer conducive to a quality of life survival. Think of a badly maintained garden. Now, there maybe a few hardened crops with the ability to tolerate terrible conditions and reproduce but generally the weeds choke off the garden. You can argue all you want that the crops should be as tolerant as the weeds but to do so you have to become weedlike and that prospect is not desirable from an intellectual point of view for most. This is why reproduction is primarily driven by "manimalistic" urges and not intellect because nature's game of "survival of the tolerant" for an elusive prize wouldn't progress very far in difficult times. Fortunately, condoms allow you to satisfy that natural urge while still following the lead of your intellectual mind. Thus, the fate of mankind will be left up to the hardy weeds and hybrids like you to fend off nature's wrath and continue as you say "unselfishly" populate until someone wins the game. Maybe, you should start deploying Octomom tactics as she's got a big lead going there.
Btw, I went to catholick.com and was surprised to not find a porn site. You smart techy catholics knew to prevent that domain from falling in the hands of evildoers. Anyway, you miss the point on why organized religion has been and continues to be a detrimental force. Sure, it has some good messages to preach but it doesn't have exclusivity to those messages of moral conduct nor seemingly any better adherence to those morals than the average person. It's a pompous organization (like all religious institutions) that thinks it can continue to dictate it's control of man and governments by virtue of fear and loathing with a set of beliefs that have not only continually been disproven and are outmoded but have had severe negative implications on the status of our society today. It has much political influence without any validation of it's origins or why it makes you a better person to be a part of it. It's psychological hold is so bad that it is nearly impossible to make it into political office as an atheist. It's basically a "teddybear" which is preventing society from growing up as it hangs on to a non-changing sliver of it's past with an extreme emotional attachment. Thus, I would ammend the bishops statement with, "There are not more than 100 people in the world who truly hate Catholic Churches, but there are millions who hate the dogma preached as fact in those Catholic Churches.”
Subtle, objective, sober, unbiased article, plenty of relevant information.
Good job.
Sory dude,
You are an idiot.
Sure the USA went to Irak for oil.
However I have not seen any priest preaching against.
In fact, I'm sure they even wished them a healthy return, and GOD BLESS.
Also, if I want to stare at somebodies boobs that's my business.
You do NOT have to be religious for not staring, being gay is also a solution.
Religions like Christians, Islam and Jews are all praying HATE...but in the name of friendship.
If there was a god, he would have stroke G.W. Bush in a second.
Such an idiot is a creation error and MUST be deleted :-)
Religion is NOT the same as being humble, as one can be that without all that crap.
That's funny how you guys show big balls attacking a Pope you for sure do not understand, and at the same time are so collaborative with muslims wanting the green flag to float over downing street. Benedict was forced into the Hitler Jugend in the last century, but what about [you] people collaborating (actively or passively) with the modern nazilamists?
It does not take a psychologist to see that most of you here are fighting - just because.
Just because you want to and mainly because you cannot help it.
So many of you class religion as bad, but do you do any better in your life?
@Mike - You know what you're talking about.
wasn't mr Ratzinger who said that the Internet was an evil tool?
