Vodafone abolishes call roaming charges

But just for the summer
Thursday, 14 May 2009, 15:12

VODAFONE'S UK DIVISION says it has put an end to its costly roaming charges, but only for the summer.

As of June 1st, Vodafone customers will be able to use their minutes, data and text allowances overseas, without having to pay through the nose.

The move is a welcome one in the current economic climate, despite rewarding those who actually can afford a holiday this year.

Vodafone has also lowered its rates for cross-border calls to as little as 5p a minute for both landlines and mobiles.

The company said its generosity will only last the summer, but seeing as how Blighty tends to get just a couple of days of sun in August followed by another in late November, who knows just how long this promotion will last. µ

Agreed 100%

I completely agree with James. 3 already have their own netwrok out there, there is simply no need to charge over the top. I am glad to hear they are ditching the ridiculous prices.

Simon, how ironic that you typed "spealt" wrong! :P
This is good news - might have to book a holiday just to take them up on the offer.

Global Roaming SIM Cards

Goodness, all these mispelts!!

I wanted to bring everyone's attention to the Global Roaming SIM cards that are sold on the market.

Vodafone's decision to abolish their roaming charges for the summer of 2009 is a start to reducing these extortionate charges but it does, as it says, only last for the summer.

aether mobile, however, offer a global roaming SIM card which has free roaming in over 65 countries and offers a superior service along with far cheaper rates than that of the other MVNOs in the global roaming market. They do not charge a daily connection fee, there are no penalties for non use and there is no expiry on your credit, which means you can use it year afer year on your holidays. Another major benefit is that with an aether mobile SIM you receive a UK mobile number.

It may be worth visiting their website www.aether-mobile.com, if you are travelling abroad, to see how their service is a far better long term option than others in the market.
