Foreign porn banned from Egypt

Nibble Mummy does not like it
Wed May 13 2009, 12:37

A CAIRO COURT has told the Egyptian government to ban foreign pornographic websites.

This nasty 'foreign porn' is apparently offensive to Egyptian religion, honour and manners, the judge decided. It is not clear if the government will do anything about it.

He did not say anything about the thriving Egyptian porn industry which has also produced a few hardcore classics. While Egypt is extremely conservative, it has done nothing to stop pornographic websites.

The court ruling comes on the back of a complaint by Nizar Ghorab who told AFP that the recent case of a man and his wife who were sentenced to prison for setting up a swingers club through the Internet "highlights the dangers posed by such offensive websites."

We guess he means the dangers of people like him baying for people who do not conform to his understanding of the Koran to be arrested. µ

Proxy servers, VPN anyone...

Porn is like the water -- it always finds its way. If there's demand for it, there will be a market for sure!

Mr.

Your guess is uncalled for and does not go along with your motto "News, reviews, FACTS, and friction".
The court ruling was based on the interpretation of the constitution and the constitution ALONE, it said that "The constitution and its amendments, in accordance with international human rights agreements, upheld the freedom of expression in general, and the constitution guaranteed this freedom by allowing the access, pursuit, transmission and reception of ideas and thoughts to and from others without being bound by regional borders or whatsoever"
The court added that "The constitution emphasised that the freedom of expression not be limited to certain sources alone, but it should expand its horizons and resources except where it is tied down by the traditions of society, its values and principles. Public rights and duties are not absolute but they are restricted when it comes to preserving the natural values of the family which is the foundation of society. These values are based on religion, morality, patriotism and genuine tradition "
The ministry of communication can appeal the court's decision, which would be considered awkward, but it has already expressed its concerns about implementing this ban. However it proposed providing a "family internet" package which limits pornographic websites probably with some performance issues to willing subscribers.

They ban a lot of things in China including porn so what?

They ban a lot of things in China including porn so what? Why is this making the headlines? This is just western media propaganda BS.

If that is their law over there, then that's their law, if you don't like it don't go there. Isn't this the true freedom? Allowing people to make their own decision and not compelling people to follow your western value and ideology. You can't even have a dog of a certain type in your country! Remember your fox hunting? Well kepp your shyte to yourself and we will keep our shyte to ourself.

You have to respect other peoples views and beliefs even if it contradicts your own views. I saw your news about one of your sick men raping a 18month baby girl! You did not seem to have made much noise about that. As long as the people of that country are happy and want to be governed by these rules and traditions, they should have the opportunity to have that freedom without the Americans breathing down their necks with disagreements!

Besides, in Australia they have banned pornography from the internet, maybe finally, they are coming closer to their bible and maybe reading a page or two! If more countries were to follow maybe the people that disagree should be taken to some island and allow these people to make a gay country where everybody is gay with no risk of homophobic attacks etc. same for the other groups - just like Israel is a Jewish country - if you don't like the country, leave!

@ Ali

Ali, your wrong, the thing about paedophilia is that it is not as wide spread as you believe nor are they as much as gays, and according to me MY Bible says in Corinthians and Deuteronomy "Do not lay with men as you would with your wives that is most abominable" but because of the large number of gays, the church is forced to go against this commandment and be accepting of them I.E the gay Bishop. I'm already worried about leaving my 7 year old son Tommy at the church for the Sunday morning services which is why me and the misses have to escort him every time. But here is some food for thought, suppose paedophiles were as much as there are gays, do you think the western society will be accepting of them? After all, they are human beings and they have their rights too you know. Commenting on the part "make a gay country" what if the Arabs were to nuke it, that will mean all those poor gays will have become extinct.

@ Mr. Nocturnal

"The thing about paedophilia is that it is not as wide spread as you believe nor are they as much as gays" - I don't really understand this sentence, in particular the last seven words are awkward expression at best. Are you stating there are more gay people than paedophiles? If so, and for this brief moment of lucidity I commend you, you are making the distinction between being gay and being a paedophile. You also seem to be correct - either that or there are simply more paedophiles that can repress their urges than are known.

With regard to “[your] bible”, it also tells you to keep your woman apart from you for 7 days during her time of “uncleanliness” or something akin to that, I do hope you are sure to do this too, even though because of the large number of women and men that find that ridiculous, the church is forced to go against this commandment and be accepting of menstrual fluids. Of course, you can labour on, under the illusion that you’re following the bible - but somehow I doubt you’re staunchly against eating shellfish, making sure to not approach the alter of God if you have defects in your vision or campaigning for the death of those who work on the Sabbath.

Your already watered-down beliefs are highly questionable. Perhaps thinking for yourself might yield better results? Though I can’t guarantee it. Here’s a hint to get you started: There are many religions based on texts much older than the bible - the one thing they all have in common? They were all written by people. As much as someone has insisted to you that they are sacred, you might want to really question why they are. Because someone has told you?

On a trivial note - about making gays extinct: Homosexuality is not brought forth through gay people reproducing (in case you didn’t know, most of them don’t) - it seems to occur as spontaneously as foot fetishes, or disliking rice. If you kill all the extant gay people, more will be born. So, no, nuking a theoretical gay country won’t make “all those poor gays” become extinct.

Cheers.

hang on a sec

Amir, their comment apparently does cause friction, so it does work with thier motto.

Ali, this is news, the same way that "Intel's general counsel "mystified" and "dismayed"" It's news, now I'll cancel that porn trip to Egypt. Now for a mind bender, here you are trying to compel us to conform to your view... so stop crying about us trying to change yours. It's not like someone sent an ICBM over there, it's a news article and some internet bitching... get over it. I'm also guessing forced marching... er migration to another land isn't the solution.

Nocturnal, I'm agnostic so maybe I dont' entirely get the value of church... even when I was religious, I wasn't a big church fan.... but why would you leave your 7 year old someplace that makes you worry?

What happened?

For some reason pornography has become really degrading to women in the past few years. About 20 years ago porn had a (often laughable) story to it and the women were treated far better than in todays porn. Today we see women really being abused and treated like absolute trash. My question is next time you see women in porn being treated that way, ask yourself if it would be fine to see your daughter, sister, girlfriend, niece, aunty, mother or any other female that you love/respect to be treated in that manner. For each one of those women you see abused in porn is someones daughter, sister, girlfriend, niece, aunty, mother or any other female that someone loves/respects. If your answer is that it would be fine to see your loved ones abused in a porn film, then, you would unique individual indeed. And forget the argument that they made the decision to become a porn actress because yes, they made their own choice, my question was whether it would be ok for their father, brother, uncle, boyfriend, or someone who loves and respects them to do what they do. You all see where i'm coming from with this...

egyption milf

im not 1 for the whole bondage tying me up fetish,
but if the mummies like to be tied up and wanna show their insides in little jars let them.
pharo's wanna wear blingy pointed hats and stick them up places well known to the mythical lands thats fine with me, but banning other forms of pornography in the country thats like giving breast milk in a bottle, ur teasing them in the wrong way, how else can the egyptions get there creative juices flowing? its constricting them to their own thoughts and not let them experience what more imaginative people can think of.

just a thought?
